Wow, they don't think that ... rather, they get lost in the moment and receive a joy from the drugs without realizing they are becoming slaves to their desires.

Only after a person has lived in the filth of drugs do they realize that life is horrible, and usually, it's too late by then.

Actually, in most times, it doesn't start this way. In all the cases that I know, drugs started as a way to have some fun. Feeling that life is just **** is 1 consequence of addiction. I guess the main problem that leads addicts to this conclusion " life is so horrible that they have to do drugs" is that they spent so long with their drug-mates who can be good people or bad people. The way an addict is open and talks to addicts is completely different from the way he deals with normal people. Addicts believe that they understand each other perfectly and that non addicts won't understand the ways addicts think. To a large extent this is true.
Some other people do drugs, because for example they are high risk takers, but don't have the tools to gamble or take risks. So they simply risk with their own life and those are the most dangerous.
The question is so open that I can write a book in that.
If you can specify or describe a bit the environment that a specific addict is living in, may be I can advise.

hmmm....well let's face it sometimes life definately sucks.

Some have to face with that more than others and after a while you pretty much just want an escape from everything that sucks.

So when there is nothing else except drugs in front of someone many people take it as their escape

It is like when you r extremely hungry one night and open the fridge just to find some rotting fruit, butter, and bread with mold beginning to grow. And believe me if that night the power was out and that was the only thing to eat you would scrape the mold of eat the good part of the food and maybe even the whole stick of butter.

It takes a while for people to later see they have more options in getting happy or finding an escape from what seems to be a twisted lifestyle, but some people just took a wrong turn in trying to better their life. But as long as one is willing to change for the better or pursue something better one has to keep an eye out for those who have not yet seen what has happened and redirect them if they still care and will be there for them throught the way.

It really isn't like that all the time. Usually, it's triggered by wanting a new high, just as young teens strive to drink for experience the new and exciting feeling of drunkenness. Of course, some people do ultimately turn to drugs as an escape from reality. This may be due to depression (and I'd assume most often is).

People drink mostly from ignorance, but not all people drink their gourds out. It is possible to have a drink, relax and spend quality time with friends.
Most people don't know alcohol is a poison in the body. Once it enters the blood stream your body is on full alert trying to expell it.
People who want to party hard with drugs eventually hit bottom and learn they can have a good time without the drugs.

Some stupid people believe the adds on T.V. and believe that at least the drugs can make them feel better. And why shouldn't they work? I should think that when you have fewer brain cells you wouldn't know what's sad or happy.

When it comes down to it, druggies are just people that have given up on life, and are trying to find an easy way out.

these people are so weak and inconsiderate, they were led to believe that those drugs will make them high and give them a happy state of mind, make them reach euphoria - that is it... they can't seem to understand that this substance makes them slaves afterwards. they have a problem thinking that they are always stronger and they can quit whenever they want.. well they are completely wrong, it makes them happy yes for a moment but then it turns their life into a living hell when they start destroying themselves and others and they cannot even realize what they are doing or how it is affecting them and others

Drugs? Like caffiene, asprin, antibiotics, nicotine, iodine, cancer medicine?

You are a fool if you dont know that humans have been medicating themselves since they crawled out of the oceans. All animals self-medicate (thats why dogs eat grass).

Moderation is the key, NOT abstience
