Because they think those 2 points for answering are so important that they just must have them no matter whether or not they can provide a helpful answer.

Before computers, Internet, Yahoo, and this forum the only place to chill out with mates was at school at work in the club etc.
People are basically shy and afraid. They are not ALL like you and me and they don't all aspire to great things in life. Scoring points is one way of keeping a score in how they engage with life as we find it in the 21st century
They use these forums to be in contact with other people. Don't knock them too hard. They are fragile people unlike you who are out there in the world doing while most others are just looking on and some are wondering what the FCUK the bang was.
I also note with interest that you hide behind anonymity. Are you afraid to come out in the open in case we discover that the Emperor actually has no clothes on? Note that I don't hide! Because they arent really participating in order to share thier knowledge and gain knowledge from others. They are only on here because they think it is some kind of competition to get the most points even though they arent truly earning them. I also have noticed that people dont answer the question they just put you down with a rude comment because of something you commented on in your question or details. It is really immature and annoying.

I soppose most of them do it for the points,but I do enjoy some of the answers,even if they bear little or no relation to the question.The ones that annoy me are the sarcastic b***ards.
