this lady brought her baby in to work and paraded him around like he was a piece of prized meat and i could not help notice how ugly he looked...i wanted to shout something out to her, but restrained myself from doing so...when is a proper time to tell the parent?

Honestly I only cuss when I'm away from my child. Sadly because I probably spend a lot of time bottling up some frustrations, when I'm not being "mommy" I have a mouth that would make the hardiest of sailors blush. Its something I've been working on, mainly because even if I'm not around my own kids, chances are if I'm out in public SOMEONE'S child is near me and can hear what I say.

Well, you will have to hold your tongue and not be able to say anything. It is not alright to tell a parent that their child is ugly. To the parent, their child is their child, and they are proud of them. It must be hard to see someone parade their child like a golden baby, when it's face is the ugliest thing, but as a mature adult, it is not okay to tell someone that their child is ugly. How would you like it if you had a kid, and someone told you that they were ugly? Maybe, to the parents, the kid is not ugly. Even if the kid isn't that attractive, it is still their child and you should respect that. Good Luck

Never.You can not tell the lady that her baby is ugly.You must remind that all children are created by our God Almighty,whether he is handsome or ugly.There is not a single child who is phsycally the same.The Islamic teaching in our Hadith,Moham-
mad prophet spoke that someone do not allow to call others by their shortcomings
We can not shout such as hey flat nose,crippled,big nose etc.It is an ethic too that if you say that to his mother,she wiil be hurted.Do not be a nagging or sneaky.Please feel yourself if you have a baby like that and your friend said that your baby is very ugly. Certainly you are very sad.I think all mothers want a handsome and beautiful chidren.But their fates are not the same.

Whenever you decide that you don't want to work there anymore. No matter how ugly the brat, if you want to have a good working relationship, you can't tell her.
And if you're truly looking for a Miss Manner's type of answer, you shouldn't ever tell her. That's what the white or social lie is for; to spare hurt feelings and gloss over difficult situations. Try something like "oh, how wonderful - s/he looks just like you!" you make her feel good and you get yourself some quiet chuckles.

Don't ever tell a parent their child is ugly. Besides, some of the most popular celebrities were goofy looking as kids. So you just never know. If you tell a parent their child is ugly, you are the one who will look like a real jerk to the rest of the world.

FYI- the baby may be ugly to you but I can assure you that baby is the most beautiful baby on the face of the earth to its mother. Remember beauty IS in the eye of the beholder....giver her a break maybe she couldn't have kids and miraculously conceived so this could be a blessing for her. If that doesn't answer your question just think- if your baby was "ugly" would you want someone to say that to you? How rude!

You should just keep this opinion to yourself. I have two very beautiful children, but if someone told me that they thought they were ugly I would absolutley go off. You have no right. Just think you really shouldnt judge that way, beauty is not only on the outside. And just remember you may be blessed with a child one day, how would you feel. She knows what her baby looks like and maybe it is beautiful to her that is all that matters.

Just because you may think the baby is unattractive, doesn't mean that other people do. He's just a baby. All babies aren't always nice looking. Where you an ugly baby? How would you feel if people told you, you are ugly now? I don't think you should ever tell anyone that.

You don't tell a parent that. God don't make ugly. You might think someone is ugly. But you should never comment on it. In gods eyes what you might think is ugly can be so beautiful. Always remember this saying I have. (Think before you speak.) And no matter what others may think, a parent always knows their child is beatiful. Baby's are Angels.

why would you ever want to say something that does not help anyone or do any good to a person. You are just wasting your words and being really insensitive. surely, you telling a parent that her child is ugly is the worst thing you could do to another human being. Instead, go and find something nice about the baby...maybe its smile, hair, eyes...something...whatever you genuinely think is good about the baby and go ahead and say it....that is a real challenge....so are you upto it?
