It never ceases to amaze me about the societal issues of this 21st century and how nobody has any moral fiber anymore; decency, respect and pride. I am ashamed of the posts which encouraging you to be a terrible, self-absorbed friend. Yes, you would be, regardless if this guy is smirking that he knows two desperate girls are fighting over him.
To be a friend is to be understanding and compassionate and look out for their best interests unconditionally- otherwise you are fooling yourself and claiming a friendship that is merely an aquaintance; nothing more.
I guarantee that the friend will last longer than the boy you like. Is your friendship and the betrayal of her worth the little fling you may encounter short-term with this guy? I do know this, she won't listen to your apologies when you need her shoulder to cry on when this guy isn't around anymore.

You like a guy.But does the guy like you?If the guy has spoken to you that he likes/loves you and then he is attracted by your friend I think you should discuss frankly heart by heart whether he will select you or your friend.If your guy said that he wiill select your friend then you should release him.He is not loyal to you.But if you and your friend are just only the firends of the guy and have not a seriuos discussion to marry with either of you,I think it is up to the guy's choice.You are all in approaching each other.You ,your friend and your guy are still learning and studying who is the better one.You must compete and show the real attitude independently.One who has the inner and outer beauty will be a winner.

no, but if I was you I would talk to my friend. Find out how much she really likes this guy. Maybe she is bored and just want someone to like her. But I really suggest you talking to her bc no man should come between friends who i assume have been friends for long.

How important is your friend to you? If your friend is important, leave the guy alone. There are a lot of fish in the sea, but good friends are hard to find.

Perhaps you should also considder this guy's feelings. Perhaps he likes one or the other of you?
Once you have obtained his preferance, I suggest talking to your friend in a very subtle manner and try to gain her compliance. If she is really your friend, or you her's, you will still care for each other regardless of this guy.

DON'T BACK OFF!!! The poor guy will end up with noone. I like this girl and she sorta likes me but her best friend likes me more and so she's backing off and it's really annoying.

If he likes you, go for it. But first, ASK YOUR FRIEND. Ask her if it is ok that you go out with him. If she agrees GO. If she doesnt, either aks for a reason or dont be her friend. If she just is jealous and doesnt want to be happy for you, ask her why. If she doesnt act like a real friend and support you, meet new people.
