I feel there must be a reason why Child Support does so little to inforce the order, and are almost unwilling to persue medical coverage or reivaluate the order if it's needed. The only thing I can think is the court makes nothing for dealing with these cases so they have no incentive to help the custodial parent after the order has been set up. Help me to see things differently Please..

Allow me to air my story on this subject...........I have a court ordered child support in place for my two children which, thankfully I had enough forsight 8yrs ago to request from the judge.....here is the catch.....my ex is self employed. He doesn't have to answer to anyone on any regular basis.....no garnishments are taking place on his paychecks! He literally pays when he wants to. I used to call him on a monthly basis but don't any longer....does no good and only gets me upset. He knows exactly how long he can be in arrears before he'll be red flagged and plays this game to a tee. And for the flags to not go up, he doesn't have to pay up in full, he just has to make some payment and he knows that. He has a new home, a new RV, a toddler to which he pays daycare and a wife getting her Masters degree at the local Univ. Well no wonder he can't pay his child support for our two children! When I walk into the local office and nicely ask them to call him becuz this will usually generate a payment out of him, I am sometimes told " well thats not really our job." When I call my case worker who is 350 miles away and leave a voice mail, there is not any follow through. So I am stuck as hell becuz the only person he has to answer to is me and he just tells me what I want to hear. He is 4 months behind. He is a local Contractor and makes good money. The state of Alaska certainly does not have an effective policing system in place for self employed dads who are not paying thier child support.

I don't know what state you live in, but here in Texas every case that goes before a judge has court costs attached to it. So they do make something.
