When you get there, you sign in, fill out some forms, and sit down with the other auditioners. You'll usually be given a call time, and in a perfect world they see you then. Usually you have to wait because they always misjudge how long things will take. Sometimes half an hour or more.

While you're waiting, look over your script. You don't have to have it memorized, but do get familiar with it. Sometimes it's just a scenario and they'll have you do a little improv. (Helpful hint: take some improv classes!)

You'll go into the audition room, where there will be the casting director and camera operator (sometimes that's the same person). Usually the "client" is not in there with you. They'll explain how they want the audition to go.

You'll slate (say your name and show your profiles). Look into the camera and imagine your best friend is in there. Smile at them!

Then you do the scene with someone, or say the lines directly into camera, depending on the commercial. To use the script, look down, see your line, then look up and say it. Don't keep your head down, following the lines.

When you're done, they'll probably ask you to say your name again. Stay positive, even if you think you didn't do a good job. (I've gotten booked from what I thought were bad auditions.) Then they'll say thank you, and you leave.

Remember, the casting agent wants to send a good group of people. This means they want you to do well! They're not judging you!

First - you need an agent...or are you going to 'open casting calls'?
Then you should be prepared to act..literally
It is always a good idea to have something prepared ie; a memorized piece you can do.
You are usually 'judged' by a producer, director and sometimes a writer...
If you think it's scary - you're in the wrong business.
