It's insecurity. There are people out there who consider healthy weights and sizes fat and people feel paranoid because of this. Some people have body image disorders and may see themselves as fat when they are not. When there are people out there telling girls that if they are over 100lb, they are fat, is it any wonder people are so screwed up about size and weight! I come from the UK and we aren't half as obsessed as the US, but we are catching up fast, it needs to stop, but that won't happen until people stop saying healthy weights and sizes such as 6-8 are fat!

Fat can be completly different depending on how you're built. I'm extremely lucky to be proportioned the way I am. I'm only 5'4'' and I weight 170lbs. You'd never guess it becuase of the way I'm built. I'm not fat, I'm healthy, and I've even been told I'm "thick". So why are the 12 year olds who are 100 lbs and 5'6'' thinking they are fat?

Peer pressure and very skinny celebrities. Some people are mean or just jealous and say that you are fat when you're not. And most famous people are skinny and a lot of people look up to them.

"If you have to ask, You are."
B.S. - there is so much pressure on teenagers. Most kids don't know what they should weigh at what age and height. I just responded to a 12 year old girl who was actually slightly underweight and her sister keeps telling her she's fat. And we wonder why anorexia and bulimia are rampant.

They ask hoping to here the no, to make them feel better. Nobody really wants the truth even though they say they do
