I would be gothic only because I have been before and I really love the color black and everything doing with being gothic. I think people hate on gothic people because they don't care to be different and aren't scared to be different when people are scared of differece in people when really they should just be open and be theirselves. Gothics get treated likes skank because the preppy people are the ones that are skanky and they are only trying to hide it so they blame it on the gothic people because they are different and they are jeaous of them because the gothic people don't have to be fake to make friends when the preps do. That is what I think. And I don't like prep. Preps I mean the ones spending all of their daddies money and that are real bitches that think that they are better then everybody else.

If I could go back and be a teenager again I would be a total goth! Closed minded people treat them poorly! My step kids have a lot of goth and candy raver friends and for the most part I like all of them. There will always be a dumba$$ in the group, but looking at the kids friends, the preppy ones are the ones I dislike and can't wait to have them leave my house!!!

People like to make fun of anyone who is different from them. Its all about their own insecurity. Make fun of someone else and maybe people won't notice their own faults.

Its been like that for years and I doubt it will change. I was a punk (aka a goth) over 20 years ago! I was treated the same way when I was the mohawk-wearing, blue haired chick in my school in the early 80s. For me it was just a form of artistic expression.

I would have rather chewed glass then be a preppy. I saw how they treated each other. The competition for the right clothes, accessories, the right boyfriend, was sick. Peer pressure like nothing I ever saw in my own group. We may have been weirdos, but we certainly weren't the sheep they were.

Just ignore them and be yourself!

I don't go for gothic or too much preppy but I don't hate gothics or anyone else they really are not bed people they are just being them they are doing what thet want to do and minding their own business if other people wouldn't be themselves and tend to their own business and stop judging everybody they could stop hating on so many people and get to know them but it's too many judgemental people for that so i don't know what else to say.

Ok...I am one of those that live by the motto "to each their own" and I truly believe it. I mean we live in such a diverse culture anyway...who wants to be known as the guy that looked just like all the other guys?

I have always been one of the non-conforming types of people...I grew up objecting to all forms of authority and having my own opinion. I didn't need to have others give me the how to's on the way to look, think or feel. I believe it was worth it!

Then I hit my late 20's and bringing forth the 30's....now I wear conservative style clothing to work and in my spare time I wear low riders, flip flops and lots of pink...then when I go out I look like a a clubber-all glittered up...I wear what fits my mood.

On the other hand...I am a dark demented and twisted soul that writes depressing stories, or poems that continually prove to be (at least in the eyes of the reader that hasn't a clue about me) completely gothic in nature. I love to gimp out weird and dark images that usually get "creepy" or "weird" comments..yet I am a conventional housewife in a not so conventional world. SO how would I be classified? A goth in diguise? Or a housewife in diguise? I guess its a matter of opinion.

When it all boils down to it...it's not what people think of anyone else...its our own insecurities reflected upon others.

Would you have the gusto to put yourself in some freaky get up just because? Or are you cool with sticking to what you are comfortable with?

I say let everyone be everyone. Try not to impose your thoughts, standards and pre-disposed judgements with out knowing the truth behind the eyes of those you look at.

Who knows, that cool and charming doctor you go to for your monthly check ups might actually have lead vocals in that nasty goth band down at the local weird hang out.

Never judge a book by its cover!

I'd be preppy. Gothics are weird, depressed, attention-seeking losers who only wish they were cool enough to be preppy. Instead, they wear long, ugly black clothes and disgusting make up to cover up their zits and unproportional faces. They think the makeup makes tem look evil or mysterious, but it only makes them look like freaks who will probably end up living with their parents until they are 45.

Umm well preppy people are fun and nice and easy to hang out with, as long as their not snobs. and gothic people hate everyone and people don't wanna waste their time on trying to befriend someone that judges them before they know them

If I was back in HS I would still be neither. I was friends with everyone from jocks to skaters and I would do it all over again. Goths/Preps/Nerds/Punks are all kids going through phases trying to figure out who they are. I would be none of the above and just be me being friends with whoever I wanted to be.
