I would get suckers that were either pink or blue depending on what you are having.

I'm not sure where you're from or if you have these available to you, (my suggestion would be to do a google search if you can't find them in a local 1/2 off card shop or party store) but I've seen individually wrapped pink and blue bubble gum shaped like cigars to pass out to the youngsters when one is expecting..
Another neat and inexpensive idea would be to buy in bulk the small bottles of wedding bubbles and add a single drop of either blue or red food coloring in them. If you'd rather not mess with food coloring you can always wrap the bottles with pastel pink or blue colored tulle and tie them off with matching ribbon. (You can usually find pre cut circles of this at any party store in the wedding isle ~ as it's most commonly used for making birdseed sachets.) After finding out the babys sex and if you have his or her name picked out, you can even include it on little handmade tags that can be attached to the ribbon around the neck of the bubble bottles. Heres an example of what you could write:
"Join us in welcoming our brand new bubbling bundle, David Alan/Emily Elizabeth into the world".. It's a fun and unique alternative to the candy thing.. I hope this helps!!
Best wishes and congrats to you on your new baby!!

I don't know where you live but if you have access to See's Candies shops, you can buy candies(basically lollypops) that are covered in wrappers that say "it's a boy" or "It's a girl".My husband & I bought these candies to distribute among family & friends who came to visit after my son was born. You can employ the same idea with home-wrapped candies too and I guess it would work as well for your situation.Good Luck.

First off... congratulations! Secondly, good luck! My son was shy and we couldn't tell for sure until week 34. BUT...
if you do find out, I would suggest picking up a plain t-shirt (in a size larger than you normally wear) and some fabric paint and painting the word "BOY" or "GIRL" in an appropriate color and adding a big arrow pointing to your belly. Not only is it a good way to let your family know, it'll come in handy as you start to show more.

My cousin put it's a boy or it's a girl cigar in a box for her husband when she found out she was pregnant. The idea you have with the candy sounds good..

I bought balloons & wrote a note & put it inside of them. I tied a balloon to all of my family members mailboxes or doorknobs. The balloons were blue for a boy & the note said what his name would be (we had him name since the day after we found out I was pregnant LOL) & his due date. On the outside of the balloon it said POP ME so they could get to the note btw

Here's an idea. KEEP IT TO YOURSELVES! Nobody really wants to know until the kid is born.
