Beat yourself up. Stare straight into the abyss, and fear the emptiness. Tell yourself subconsciously that if there nothing more out there, then you would be nothing and that would make you depressed and want to die. Sob at the lack of love in your life, and tell yourself that the answer to life must be something greater. That something greater is a being who loves you eternally. Think to yourself that you cannot exist knowing that life ends and death is the end. Feel like nothing at all, and then when you are at your weakest, let Jesus into your heart. Justify this by assuming that Jesus is SO loving he only finds those who need him most. DO NOT assume that your lonliness and utter vacancy is the sole reason for believing in something more in the first place. Just be sad and never accept the meaninglessness. Be weak. Be on your knees, clasp your hands, and abandon all abysmal feelings with the reassurance that you will somehow be rewarded after death. Accept Jesus, whether he exists or not. The important thing is that you have lied to yourself convincingly enough. That is a leap of faith. Religious faith anyhow.

I think you make a leap of faith - by leaping. Some good advice given many years ago is "Do It". Faith means that you believe in something you haven't seen yet. Just make sure you are taking a leap of faith and not making bad judgements because you want something now. Or, you want it to be the right thing. You must be leaping for the right reasons. Hope this is helpful.

My suggestion is don't make a leap first and repent later. "Think before you leap". First and foremost responsibility of yours is to belive your brain and its rational power. Walk around the "pool' of beliefs. Know your strenghts and weaknesses. If you do not no swimming get in to the low water level area first. Then proceed. There is another way. It is an effort for sudden enlightenment. This I don't think can be done without the help of a Guru(master). Then, I am not comfortable in that make and break theory. Slow evolution through right path is always a better way. Correction can be done at any point. Do not ever start with faith. Start with enquiry, if you keep enquiring, your spiritual evolution will be stronger and stronger. If you start with faith, your slavery will be stronger and stronger.

You believe in it even though you have no concrete proof. A leap of faith is basically you leaping and having the faith that a person, idea, etc. will catch you/hold true before you land on your face (metaphorically of course).

If you question something you cannot have faith in it. Faith isn't built on any rational, logical, reasonable evidence. The only way to leap is to ignore the doubt, ignore any evidence, abandon critical thinking and just say you believe.

Leaping of faith is like throwing caution to the wind.

what it means to take a leap of faith is to attempt something that is too difficult for you to accomplish on your own. Like when your dad is in the deep end of the pool when you don't know how to swim and he's telling you to jump to him. You do it because you have faith in your dad, not because you trust yourself to be safe in the middle of the deep end.

Faith is really just believing there is something there that isn't. Or believing it is there even though you cannot see, hear, touch, smell or taste it.

Or it could be believing you can't do something and just trying it anyway.
