should it be a crime to drive yourself to school, if you are legally crippled and can't walk, but have your Drivers License Revoked for a DUI.

What if your license is eligable to be reinstated, but you just haven't had time to fill out the paperwork?

Alright what if you are unable to find a ride, the nearest bus is 4 blocks away, and your town is to small for taxi's?

Then why do we allow workers permits?

You are confusing ethics with emotion...

Think about what you are saying. You're telling me that in order for this law to be ethical, it should state some exceptions to the general rule. One of those exceptions should be if you're crippled, but earned a DUI. And to further complicate it, you're want the exception to take into account how close the license was to being reinstated.

I'm sorry, but the physical state or lack of motivation isn't enough to justify the action. Public transportation specially designed for disabled students is available in just about every district - the school just has to know where in the city it is needed. They should pick the disabled person up at their house.

If this is not available where you live, not only would I find that hard to believe, but I'd challenge it. Public attention to the matter would be needed if that were seriously true.

_______

Judging from your last response, I'd say you are either playing the hypothetical, or looking for reasons to justify poor judgment...

_______

Worker permits like driving licenses are a privilege, not a right. A "judge" will decide when they are to be issued, and in some cases, taken away. I'm just not following your line of thought here. You don't agree with the premise behind punishing illegal driving in "some" situations, but again, you seem to be missing the point about why you have to go to court for crimes committed. There are reasons and situations in which the charges could be dropped.

Yes it should be and most certainly IS a crime do drive on a revoked license no matter what the destination. If you are dumb enough to drive under the influence, you don't deserve to be behind the wheel. Use other transportation. If its just a matter of doing paperwork because the time of your revocation is up, then get off your butt and get it done and hopefully this time you wont drink and drive. Use your brain!

If you are crippled and can't walk, why cripple yourself more by getting inebriated. If you don't know the difference between right and wrong its best you continue to go to school any way you can get there besides breaking the law!!!

Driving without a license is driving without a license. If you can't walk, take the bus or ask someone to drive you.

It's not a crime to go to school. It's a crime to drive to school because it's a crime to DUI. If it was important, you would make time to get the paperwork completed.

Drivers license revoked DUI (a year)

The law is the law. Are you suggesting that we should let you break one law BECAUSE you broke another law (DUI)?! That's absurd! If driving was so important and necessary, you shouldn't have driven drunk.
