I am a member of The Society For Barefoot Living. It is NOT illegal to drive barefoot. It is NOT in violation of the health department to go to ANY store or restaurant barefoot. If you have been told otherwise, it is misinformation. Walking, driving and shopping barefoot is perfectly legal and healthy.

Absolutely HEALTH violation, no. It's because NO ONE wants the responsibility of being sued for stepping on a piece of glass, etc..People were getting SUE HAPPY back when the law(s) were made. Have you checked the Sunshine laws in you state?
Besides that.........I love to go bare footing. There is a time and place for everything. It's bad enough seeing people who wear very exposed sandals with gross stinky feet. Then eat food at the same time.
THERE is a FINE for driving bare while driving and your sweaty foot slips and causes an accident.
Ask your insurance agent if your covered, never mind the Health Department.!
I DON"T BUY IT? SO SORRY!

Where I live it is illegal to drive bare foot, it is up to the owner of a store if he wants bare foot patrons, hence the signs, "reserve right to refuse service" and "no shirt, no shoes, no service" and it is a serious health concern to have people working in kithchens with out foot wear not only for the consumers but for the employee as well, most insurance companies will not cover injuries sustained from notn wearing shoes. Eg. broken glass, hot cooking oil, so the owner has the right to insist his employees wear adequate foot wear. Not only that most health regulations cover footwear in the kitchen of eating establishments. It may not be law but it's regulation and that's almost the same as law. You would have no recourse either if you were in a busy shopping mall and someone "accidentally" stepped on you foot and broke your toes.
