I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you are an American.
I'm an American myself, but I have learned that most Americans don't enjoy great international sports like tennis and soccer.
The World Cup is an amazing sporting event. However, since many don't go into it with an open mind, and don't bother to learn anything about it(other than perhaps their nation's team), they really can't appreciate it.
The Americans didn't make it too far in the Cup, but if you looked past that, if you could step beyond your own boundaries, you really could have enjoyed a phenomenal event!

I wouldn't say I'm glad, but being a typical American, I really didn't care. About the only thing I found fascinating by the finals having Italy and France was:
Will France surrender before Italy switches sides?
You heard it first from DrTandem! I write 'em and Leno tells 'em.

I am! I just moved to Germany and have been holding back on visiting different places because of all the crowds from the World Cup.
I don't like any other sports besides NASCAR and football.

I'm so happy! I hate sport, and I was starting to get tired of hearing about the world cup.

Yeah, I am. Every news station and especially every sports show was talking about it 24/7. Boring!! Tell me about something interesting! Like the All Star Game or something. I just can't force myself to watch soccer (futbol).

Do you mean soccer? Anything as mind-numbingly boring as soccer should be classified under the Geneva Conventions as cruel and unusual punishment. But to be honest, it didn't have any effect on me at all, since i paid no attention to it whatsoever.

Count me in. Absolutely the most boring sport in the universe with the possible exception of curling. Belay that. Curling has more action.

Once every 4 years is way too often. If I see one more car displaying a foreign flag I'm going to lose it.

No, it was exciting being exposed to a different sport, not just the same old! And to the curling buddy, its an excellent sport, you just need to understand it!
