For your information, i like to add that your player had said to zidane that he is a "dirt terrorist"....
I suppose if a french say to an italian he is a fascist he would certainly do the same thing.... But the difference is in France we are not racist... In italian team you don't have immigrante\ player... WHY???

Wow, it took me awhile to read everyone's answers and boy are there a lot of messed up uneducated folks giving inaccurate information.
Yes, Italy has an Argentinian playing for their team. Although I just read reports that Toldo and Baggio don't agree with him playing for Italy because he isn't "true Italian".
I too am Argentinian and I hate to make you look even more like an idiot PANCHO, but not all Argentinians are Italian. Seriously, where do you get your information?
I think it's sad and pathetic to trash the French. What's the point of it? There will always be fans who are sore losers but I've talked to many French supporters who completley admit defeat and are okay with the Italians.
I think bashing another country and their people as a whole shows a lot of ignorance and lack of integrity. I think both teams did well. I thought the French played very well against the Italians but it was Italy who won the game. That's how football is. Your team isn't going to always win. If some of the French want to complain then let them. You could have easily been in their shoes and I know for a fact there'd be Italians who would be sore losers as well. It happens to the best of us. Enjoy the fact that your team has won and be a gracious winner and allow the French to be disappointed like anyone else would in their place.

OK, now yes I realize that the whole Italian team is white, not the French team but please don't let people think that there is no racism because there is. When it is convenient yes France does want the dark people on its side.
Now, what Zidane did was stupid and uncalled for, no matter what the Italian player might have said to him. Provocation is part of the game and you need to know how to take it. Besides, his action did not just affect him but the whole team him being the captain. Now, there is no excuse for what he did but I did feel very sorry for him, after having been very mad at him, when I saw him on the news today on the French international channel. He did feel very bad and he is not an actor. He is supposed to say in a few days what exactly happened.
Until then ...
It is sad and a shame that such a talented player leaves on that note but life goes on and the 2006 World Cup is over ... Italy won, France lost. That will not change. My favorite team was Brazil. They play fair and have AMAZING players and that's nothing new. Pele, Pele, Pele is THE man and that hasn't changed either! Zidane could have left with the same respect and consideration and not just from France but the whole world and he must feel pretty bad about it himself. More than anyone else's defeat it is HIS own.

This is for Pancho down there, listen home made talent, CAMORANENSI is from my country ARGENTINA, I think his gran dad was Italian, but he is mestizo, mix Indian, Spaniard too. he only played for you because out coach told him he did not have a chance in playing in our team. And also learn some history the first 2 world cup were Italian teams made out of mostly Argentinian players. I normally prefer Italian calcio rather than the french, but this cup was a rip off, the Italian team played only defense futbol, and Matarezzi is an animal, that is why most people in the planet are with Zidane right now, so get a reality check, and countries are changing, soon you will have black, Arabs, etc players in Italy if you Italians don't have any kids!!! Just wait a few years, most Italian men are too busy looking at the mirror and combing their heir instead of having children. Lowest birth rate in the world after Japan is in Italy!!!!

Please get the fact straight . If Italy only play penalty kicks, they should have won 90, 94 and 1998 WCs .

Now go headbutt the wall , that's the new trick your Zidane just taught you and the rest of his fans .

BTW . Your France was so lucky in WC 98, and Euro 2000 . That's ok , you've had your luck, now it's someone else's turn .

Oh, did your France played the same defense tactic Italy used to play ? That is score 1 goal and retreat into defense ?

The problem is that we have so many people that for the first time have taken interest in soccer, and dont know anything about the players. I love soccer and grew up with it I watch foreig games and have know Zidane who is an amazinplayer for at least 12 years. Soccer is a game of minds if the oposite team makes you loose yours they will win. The Italian player did his job, and they won. People want to make it a racism thing but is not soccer is a game where everyone can play all you need is a pair of shoes, shirt, shorts, and the willigness to play. Compare that to racist games such as AMERICAN FOOTBALL, HOCKEY where if you don't have the height, weight, money to get started there is nothing for you. American footbal discriminates agains whites and Hockey agains blacks as long as is an even field is ok. Dont get me started with basketball too. So please if you dont follow soccer get more experience watching it you will not only enjoy it but you will begin to understand what happened with Zidane.

Listen mate. Zidane has done this before. He always runs his mouth in every match. And he has exurted to violence plenty of times before earning himself extended suspensions.
Facts:
1- Whatever Materazzi said was wrong. Although there is no proof of that is what he said.
2- ZIDANE is still wrong. No amount of verbal abuse should result in physical violence. If it did even in this forum people should start killing each other.
3- FRANCE was awarded a bull **** penalty kick.
4- Lucky Italy. How about lucky France, thanks to the cross bar and thanks to the referees gift penalty we were even in the penalties.

And to be honest. I dont like the way France plays. Granted overall France looked better on Sunday, I will give you that. Lets look at 6the whole tournament.
In the group stage France was pitiful. Barely surviving by far the easiest group next to Spain. Then meeting Spain. An inexperienced team which never wins anything anyway. Got by them. Against Brazil France played decent and after they scored the goal went back to their old self BORING football. Except Zidane nothing was worth watchin or putting on a highligh. Two shots on goal and 1-0 victory. Against Portugal same thing. Scored an early goal and kicked everything out from defense from that point on.
Lets be objective. We dont have an immigrant player. (Actually correction fellows down there are right Camorenesi is of Argentinian origin, that is the only one. Because of my anger to the idiotic RACIST remark by you I forgot to mention)That is awesome. We have our home grown talents. We do not go naturalize citizens. You have 6 immigrants and 8 African born players. What happened, no home grown talent? WORLD CUP is about COUNTRY PRIDE and it is for NATIONAL TEAMS of that country. The best players from that country. Not the best players money can buy. Not the best players that you collect from other countries because you offer them more money and a better life style. Do not say France is not racist and we are racist. 20% of your population voted for Le Pen. And better yet, didnt you guys burn down a Jewish cemetary? Didnt you guys hold rallies against blacks? Didnt you guys hold rallies against immigrants because they were taking your jobs away. So PLEASE. Before you accuse, think. All of these are written because of your stupid accusations and stating that you ddo not have any racist people in France.
And this is for DAN k. A lot of Argentinians are of Italian decent. And please do not read reports that are lies. Zidane is not opening his mouth because he knows he is in the wrong. He was talking trash the whole game. He told Materazzi that he sucked and that he would give him his jersey to keep after the game. Then Materazzi said "your mom is beautiful" and Zidane lost it. If you cant take it back do not talk trash. But Zidane always does this. He is dirty. And who os the idiot that said the Italians speak Spanish?
FORZA AZURRI.

chkibo2000, his native language is French and taking that into consideration i think he deserves some credit. Im British and i agree with him. Italy play the most mundane football in the world, they bored the French team and put the billions watching worldwide to sleep. If you could watch your last match of football ever you would likely go for Brazil or france to play, at least you would see football in all its glory. Zidane is great and a perfect example of how the beautiful game can be played.

I wouldn’t give out English lessons if i were you as you missed the " n' t " in your could. Its evident that our French friend can speak 2 languages, whereas you are struggling with just the one.

Go away you uncultured moron.

I think that the French are not trying to find excuses but are rather stating the truth. I don't know how italians might find this, but according to sources, Materazzi called Zidane a terrorist, wished death upon his parents, called his sister a whore, and then told him to go F*** off. Now, if that isn't bad enough to make you want to hurt someone, then what is? Anyways, anyone who knows anything about people of arabic descent know that respect for the elderly and their parents is one of the most important things taught above all. Zidane did nothing more than react 'humanly' to a very 'inhumane' comment.

Anyways Italia, you did great overall (aside from this other personal matter that arised), and congratz on ur cup!
Forza Azzuri!!!

Ooh please who hypocritical can someone get. The fact that you posted this is already an expression of denial and nonacceptance. And another thing, you complain that the Italians don't have immigrants playing in their team, you only sport them to show the world that everyone is equal but yet your society itself turn their noses away from them and it takes a month's long strike and protests that are way violent to make you understand. Please do even try to compare yourselves to great people. Zizou deserved the red card because of his action, and to think that he is the national hero of france.... hmmm wonder what does that say to the world.. let me guess... He may not deserve the insult he received but he deserved the red card for losing compusure and destroying the french team and destroying his career... now instead of Zizou the great, it's Zizou the foolish guy that threw away his honor and grace in the light of a global event just for a small insult. Please Frenchman, go back to the creaks of the bathroom where you truely belong.

i dont understand when one says "everyone" because am not every one, my answer is that the french are not finding excuses they are only saying the truth about their legend zizou.
they have accpeted defeat proudly because nobody expected to go that far.
you should also not forget that once france beat brazil that was when people stopped enjoying football, because they beat a great team of players ant it wasnt on penalties.
nowonder people in italian team and italy play rugby in footbal.
no hard feeling but the italians are fascists and am sure know they know they just robbed france
