I don't know if I've been formally diagnosed, but I am on monthly treatment for what I call "PMS from Hell." There are a multitude of treatments, and they not only depend on your specific symptoms, but how your body will react to the treatments.

My doc kept harping on me about this website and to get the book these women wrote. I finally sucked it up and got it online and the information in it is incredible. It answered questions and concerns I had about some of my treatment with a pretty high level of detail, something doctors don't often have time to discuss with patients.

Just to let you know, I'm on birth control pills to control the cramps and heavy flow I used to struggle with. I'm now also on a super low dose of a very mild anti-despressant for just a few days a month right before my period. It's hard to figure out WHY that works, given that anti-depressants are usually something that needs to build up in your systom and be more or less constantly present, but it's been a life-saver for me.

Talk openly and honestly with your doctor. Go to your appointment ready to relate your syptoms in detail. Try the treatment you're given, but if it doesn't work within 2 or 3 menstrual cycles, don't be afraid to make another appointment to adjust your treatment or even go get another opinion.

It depends on severity, possibly going on the pill or changing brands can settle things down. Have your hormones checked and know that you arent alone.
