Many athletes do, especially swimmers; body hair (including legs, arms and chest) accounts for about 1% hydrodynamic drag; when times are measured in 1/1000's of a second, 1% it can make a difference on finishing place. For gymnasts it's mainly for aesthetics. For regular guys it may be just a preference, although if you get bad BO even though you shower daily and use deodorant, trimming pit hair may cut down on the BO.
