Lemurs are primates of a sort, not really monkey or ape or anything else. Some scientist think we are descended from them though they are few and are generally laughed out of the room. Lemurs however are indeed from Madagascar and surrounding islands, and are protected. There are approximately 56 species of Lemurs. They are smart, very social and like people they are curious and tend to get into trouble because of it. They are almost all different in the way they do things from species to species. They have fingers and use tools. They have very complex relationships as well. Finally they are also funny to watch once they accept you.
