Ok so who is it more imporant to? I just read a couple threads
about rating women's attractiveness, and who is the hottest!.
But on another thread a girl was checking out a hotter guy
than her boyfriend and man did the guys get defensive!
And yet its ok to do it when its THEIR girlfriend?

Why do guys do it and think its okay but then say its
superficial and wrong if a girl does it?Does anyone
see the double standard here?

( i have alot of questions tonight )

Everybody looks, so who cares? There's lots of hot girls I like to look at and I don't really mind if she looks. Drink it all in. It doesn't matter where you get your appetite as long as you eat at home.

However much we deny it, looks are important. To a certain extent and at a certain age. In some industries, like show business and anything to do with the media, it does play an important role. There are also surveys saying that goodlooking people have better chances of landing a job and getting higher salaries irregardless of their mental and menial capabilities, and snag the loaded or equally gorgeous partner. So you think that's unfair. Maybe, but in the long run, it isn't. Good looking people are just capitalizing on their God-given assets while they can since this will not last long.

Generally, for younger people, whether male of female, no double standards on this matter, physical beauty is on the top criteria on selection of a partner or even friends and acquaintances. Normally, they are the ones who's checking out who's the hottest chick or guy or who wants to be with the most popular girl or guy. It is their youth that makes them act this way (however, there are a lot of middle aged people out there who have not outgrown this juvenile mind set), and they haven't had much experience that physical beauty at most is only skin-deep or lasts only for several years. For older people, who's been there and done that, they put value on other standards, like intelligence, personality and character.

Remember that everyone gets older and as the years pass by, good looks will fade. Even the best looking celebrities will lose that once stunning looks that used to turn heads and help them get their own way. And when it does, boy, how difficult it will be for them. Maybe the psychiatrists will make a killing out of counseling them from depression and therapy.

Hence, if you're in a company, male or female, who put more value in physical looks alone, seek a different crowd, or if not, be secure in who you are.

Of course there's a double standard. There IS for practically EVERYTHING in life. Like when guys have a lot of GFs they are pimps and if a girl has alot of BFs your a "hoe". So just do what you do and don't worry about what people say. AND looks ARE important, the reality is that, that's the first thing you see in a person. It's not like you can see someone's feeling. BUT it's NOT EVERYTHING.

Unfortunately looks does play a big role in life. BUT, it's definately not the only thing men are attracted to... A girl has to have brains also.

Hyporcritts does stink does it? That's why my boyfriend and I don't talk about how "HOT" that guy or that girl is in front of eachther. The eyes will always cheat. But not our hearts and body.

There are decent men out there. You just need to express to them to stop it with the talk.

It is not right to judge a person by their looks. Guy's will always get defensive and they need to get over it. My mother always said what's good for the goose is good for the gander. I use to be a model in L.A. and I bathed in the praise. Now that I am much older, I don't care what people think of me. Looks fade but the person you fell in love with doesn't

If you're with someone and still looking around at other people, then you shouldn't be with them. When you find the right person, you'll only have eyes for them. If there's a double standard, then someone's not being honest.

Absolutely a double standard,we are all physical beings, and it is only human. to think otherwise is silly.I have learned it takes alot more than just looks though. Its not the shinny package,it what is in it that counts.I thank God for women, just wish i could understand them.

Girls don't always seem to go for looks but integrity and honesty and gentlemanness. I know a couple where she's really wonderful looking and she married a short guy with crooked teeth and they are head over heals for each other.

looks are important if you want to get a job, meet your hubbys parents and other times in which you feel people will judge you. in a perfect world, people wouldn't have to care, but not taking a shower for a week (not good).
