YES! there's no doubt for that. he's the only one.... he is Zinedine Zidane and nobody can replace him. he plays football like he has connection with the ball. i think he really enjoy football and love it... he's a captain who i did respect. many people like him and there're also people who didn't like him.
Also, his skills, the way he controls the ball are great and cannot be seen in any other players. of course ronaldo scored 15 goals because he's a striker@ forward. and zidane, he's a midfielder... he is great and fantastic in the midfield where he's supposed to be.
He's awarded fot the Adidas golden ball and of course he deserves it. look what he have done to his team during the tournament. he is like an inspiration to his teammates.
for his sent off in the final, i didn't care at all even i am very sad for that. people made mistake and nobody is perfect. nobody want to end their career like that, same as Zidane. i think he really cannot hold on his temper at that time.... but, whatever he've done there's must be reason. never judgeand blame people without knowing what occur behind that incident...
If you believe in God then you know it's a fate, and there must be something we can take as a lesson in our life.....

Yes he is. And for all the muppets comparing him to Ronaldo, Henry etc, its totally different. Completely different styles of player. If he had not been sent off the last night we would not even be having this debate. It would have been an undoubted YES.
All the good players of the past had aggression, its what made them special, tough, no compromising, Think Souness, Viera, Roy Keane, Cantona, just because Zidane flipped in his last match doesent mean he should be judged by that 10 seconds. What other player would have the balls to chip the ball from a penalty in a world cup final???
Zizou has done it all, at the highest level, one of the best ever goals in a champions league final(against Leverkusen) two goals in a world cup final and should have got player of the tournament too in 1998.
Ronaldo and Henry are class but in different ways. Different positions etc.

Zidane is a superb and 100% proffessional football player, he is a great person in my opinion.
His main problem is he is too gentle with the fascist racist and uneducated italian morons who did not deserve to win. its a funny old game. The beautiful game.
from what i understand if the said named ref did not see the incident with his own eyes, then it should be accepted as such( maradonna) the referees were appalling and the system sucks.
The French are raised high now in my opinion as they support Zidane, iam disappointed with those that think violence is never the answer, people cannot say what they want there is a line.

Zidane is the best player in the world right now, and will be for a long time, he goes right up there with Pele, Maradona, Beckanbauer and etc. One bad thing he does shouldnt determine what kind of person he is. I would do the same if somebody called me a terrorist. And let me tell you Materazzi is one of the dirtiest players of all time check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HblsV-urHg&search=materazzi
Oh yah you cant even compare Ronaldinho or Ronaldo to Zidane you just cant.

Nobody...I mean nobody can match his combination of sublime two-footed ball control, shooting prowess, majestic movement past opposing players, ability to retain the ball and who has such complete dominance of the midfield and don't forget his brilliant footballing brain and his ability to "see" players behind him. Just watch the 2006 France v Brazil semi-final. And to have maintained this standard over 10 years.
The likes of Ronaldo is a one-dimensional striker...and very inconsistent. And what about Ronaldinho....occasionally exhibits sublime skills...but again, inconsistent internationally and also doesn't have the other attribues that Zidane is blessed with.

I think that there is some confusion here - re his football prowess - he is good but not more than Ranaldo etc. He is however a bad example as this is not the first time that he has done this but the third and it was on an international stage this time. for this reason he should be stripped of his award and France should be ashamed of him not proud. They played well in this match and could have lost with honour instead of the dishonour he brought them.

NO, RONALDO IS..HE SCORED 15 WORLD CUP GOALS. ZIZOU DID NOT DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT...AND RONALDO DOESN'T HAVE 14 CAREER RED CARD FOULS!!!!!
BUT JOHN HARKES IS GAY FOR ZZ...
THE FREAK SHOW CALLED ZZ "MAGICAL" AT LEAST 7 DIFFERENT TIMES..
HE WAS SOOOO BIASED AND PARTIAL TOWARDS ZIZOU DURING THE BRASIL AND PORTUGAL MATCHES THAT I THOUGHT HIS HEAD HAD TO BE PULLED OUT OF ZIZOU'S ***...
SO MUCH SO THAT DURING THE GERMANY MATCH HE EVEN WENT OUT AND SAID THAT HE WAS HOPING (ON AIR) THAT FRANCE WINS IT ALL
TAKE THAT JOHN HARKES...NOW HOW IS YOUR LOVE FOR THIS DISGRACE OF A PLAYER???
ZZ CAUSED 14 RED CARDS...HE IS A THREAT TO EVERY PERSON'S CAREER WHEN HE STEPS ON THE PITCH..HE HAD 3 YELLOWS IN THIS TOURNEY WHICH ARE ALSO HARDER FOULS..THOSE YELLOWS WERE NOT PROVOKED THEY WERE PROBABLY DONE WHEN HE ALSO THOUGHT NOBODY WAS LOOKING AS WELL.
HIS HEADBUTT WAS A PRE MEDITATED SHOT IN THE CHEST...HE DID IT KNOWING THE POSSIBLE REPERCUSSIONS..
ONLY A CHILD ANSWERS TRASH TALKING PHYSICALLY...

Maybe but he has always had a suspect temper. Whatever was said cannot justify Zidane's moment of madness. He has always had a tendency for thuggish behaviour which has been overlooked. This flaw means that he has, on occassions, let his team down badly.
