I am Filipina. I am also obsessed with correct spelling but I just do not voice it out. You know, I think it matters that it is voiced out. It is important that people know how to spell properly because it is an important skill if they would want to have decent jobs someday. :)

I am an American and I know three languages. I learned because I wanted to and I work on spelling in all three languages. There's nothing wrong with intelligence. If spelling isn't as important to some other people, that's alright; some of the spelling I see on here is pretty bad. There's a difference between missing a letter here and there and totally butchering the word altogether. If you have NO idea how to spell something, just look it up. No biggie.

A person who takes the time to look up the correct spelling of word rather than just spelling the word wrong shows me a person who cares about doing things right and is going to use that same care in everything he or she does-even the little things. And if there's one thing I've learned in life it's to pay attention to the little things. Trust me, they really do matter.

Well, since it's only one language to learn, it should be very easy to master it and utilize those skills to convey messages so others can understand what is being asked. It's frustrating and tiresome to try to decipher some of these questions. It's not just spelling. It's grammar, sentence construction, punctuation problems and many other signs indicative of lack of basic reading and writing skills.

I speak more than one language. Everyone knows that English is the hardest language to learn. Complicated as it is- Learning to read and write English does tell others that we have class. Not trash. If you know what I mean.

Correct grammar and spelling make a question more appealing to read and answer. When people don't take the extra three seconds to click spell check, or read over what they typed, those of us answering don't want to waste our three seconds answering.

I have a friend who says "listen to what I mean and not what I say" so I try to answer the question and not worry about spelling. It's not an essay after all.

The fact that these people speak only one language, they might feel that they are expected to use the proper grammer for this ONE language that they know of.
