Ask around: get appraisials from bookstore owners and local college historian professors who specialize in antique literary works. From several such people, you should get a centralized price range. I have little faith in online appraisials, but you might also want to search inquiries on popular auction e-websites.

Just be wary of being given a low-ball price for what may be a profitable collectable; maybe not worth much now--but years ahead, it well may be.

Look on ebay.com. Have relatives that buy, collect and sell books. Here are some tips from them. Unless a rare book, it should be a first edition, with dust jacket. An autograph inside may make the book more/less valuable.

you might also be holding a historical book that belongs to a library and should find out by asking your near by library first. Because if is found to be a book owned by a library is property of the Federal Government, and if it has any value you as the seller are required to verefy the book is not owned by the government before you can sell it. GOOD LUCK....

You can have it appraised by an antiquites dealer (sometimes costs money). You can also try ebay like a few people have suggested. There is also abe.com which searches through thousands of bookstores and biblion.co.uk which is UK based and deals more specifically with collectible and out of print books.

You could try going to a used book store and asking someone there about it. Be careful which store you go to though, sometimes they have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to collectible books.
