Zidane is the greatest player of all time next to Pele. That Italian racist should get more than a headbutt. Zidane showed his guts. I wouldn't respect him otherwise. I think Materazzi and all other gutless Italians provoked this intentionally. FIFA should investigate the incident. Those Italian racists should be ashamed of provoking anger, as if they had no other way to win. The racists knew they were outplayed. What a shame! They are good at acting. What a shame! Instead of showing beautiful football they waited for the penalty shootouts! Luck was in their favor, not skills (of course, except acting skills). So far, nobody played football as elegant as Zidane. He will be remembered as the greatest. Viva de France, the real champion!!

We Italians will always remember him as the best player in the World. Zidane is a French super star to which rarely any of us Italians will reach. It will take us a very long time to get someone to play like him. With us is Gatuso, he is very good but will not reach the very high points of Zidane. That is how we Italians will remember him, as one of the greatest players ever.

When people remember Maradona, they remember his magnificent form in the 86 World Cup AND alongside that they remember the phony goal. It will be the same for Zidane. It will be a 50/50 memory. The good and bad together. But I don't think it will take away from all the good things he did because they outnumber the 1 weird incident. If you like him, you will remember the good things; if you don't like him, you will emphasize the bad. But one does not cancel the other.

Well, it is too bad that the people of the world always remembered the wrong not the right but I will tell you this, Zidane had done a superb job and I will always remember his control of the ball and how one of his best passes cause my Brazilian team to get crash out the world cup. Yes, this guy was and is a genius and I forgive his action.

He's an absolute SENSATIONAL !!!
People will remember him for his great football skills.
Everybody has their ups and downs, sure Maradona did, trust me Zidane is much more adorable than Maradona in many ways, if u really know anything 'bout that guy.
He single handedly draged France to their maiden 1998 World Cup triumph.
As they say a football match is won in the midfield, this man clearly sets an example.

I think it will be remembered, but Zizou's greatness on the pitch overshadows this action. Also remember, this was his finale. I know that the Italians rode him incessantly in World Cup and Pro League competition. He had no opportunity to pay them back except in this match. I think he believed his team could win in a PSO, even with him in the locker room. Who knows? He has been FIFA Player of the Year 3 times, UEFACL MVP and now a Golden Ball recipient. One act of revenge cannot outshine this fact.

I think the French will always remember him as the great player that he was and the legacy that he's left behind in the French League. As for the rest of the world who doesn't watch French soccer every year, I'm afraid he will be remembered for the headbutting incident with Matzerattzi ( I can't spell it).

Yep, the guy that delivered the headbutt. His name forgotten, not his action. Isn't that par for the human race?
Besides, he deserves what he gets regardless of what was said. He wouldn't be the first person in a pro sporting match to have been called a terrible name.(if true)
He's got enough to live on now. Quit crying for him.

I think he will be remembered as a great soccer player and a guy who on his final game looses his mind and gets kicked out of the most important game in the WC 2006
