I much prefer to hold a book or magazine in my hands and flip the pages - I could never read a book or mag that was downloaded on a computer. What about you? Do you think it will ever be that the common way of reading will be off a computer screen?

i agree with you i also like the smell of a new book. well back in the day a lot of people didnt think computers would be big now look it would be very dissapointing if a computer did replace a book a very sad world indeed

Oh I really hope not! I also prefer a book that I can hold and flip through the pages of! I hope it never gets to the point where can only get certain books or magazines on the computer or something like that!

As long as enough of you remain out there to believe a book is preferable, then books cannot be wholly replaced. Too often when a new way to do something is put with a computer, I believe we lose something in the translation. Another thing you may consider; how valid is an encyclopedia when put to a computer on the internet, given all the hackers and political fuss someone has to inevitably add.

I think there will be a time when your book or mag will be downloaded into your ipod or something maybe slightly larger, about book size. You will feel more comfortable with it, you will have endless storage for multiple books, you will be able to listen to whatever music would compliment the book your are reading, and you will wonder how you ever got by flipping through pages and reading one book at a time.

i wouldn't like it at all if they would ever do that. but these days they put everything on computers. but what if something major would ever happen and alot of computers when down? we would be really screwed. plus its alot easier to read a book or magazine just in your hands. becuase you can easily turn to any page you want. if its on a computer it could take some time.

It might happen. But by the time we reach that point, perhaps we'll have more bed-ready, comfortable computers to read from. They could be more light-weight, and not use such bright lighting. I would read from a computer in bed or anywhere else, if it could be made portable AND comfortable.
