Lot's of Colors, Pictures exciting thing that will pop out to peoples eyes. Don't go to crazy cause that may attract the wrong crowed or lead people to not want to come in. Have some awesome music going in there... Have some free shows where you can demenstrate what you can do and show off your products. Have a lady out infront of the store telling people about the store and telling them tips on hair. Give hand out coupons for your salon.. and present new ways to do your hair to girls and tell them about new cool ways to do your hair for a prom or a dance. Just get your salon out there... With these idea's... Maybe try some cool candy on the desks. Have some cool lights in there that will attract them as well....

Humm perhaps have an open house and introduce the public to the stylists at night. You could have an art night make it trendy and have some sort of muncies and feature an artist and have an opening. I think I like to go to a salon if I know the people I would be working with.

On another note I have always wanted to say this.
One thing that turned me off is when I went to a salon faithfully since I was in middle school-> past college and the owner knows my aunt who is a short term client, but not me. The owner did nothing when I was upset and repeatedly calling and trying to get to my stylist. Yet she begged my aunt to come back. I never came back because they would not work things out with me dispite my repetitive calls. Just because someone is young does not mean they are not important. Just because they look a certain way does not mean they do not have money or power. I hope owners start considering that. I have had that happen other places also and I just take my money elsewhere. To other jewelry stores and other fine art galleries. I know you did not do this, but keep an eye out for it with your employees.

Maintain hot stylists (Men and Women), Carry excited cutting edge exclusive products, do something differant (special scalp massage, aromatherapy, champagne or tea, etc.) you get the idea. Keep the music pumping, find a local dj to make you a couple loungy cds to loop in the store (or contact me), lastly have a comfy NON astringent lounge. Salon lounges are usually so cold and un friendly, spend a couple bucks and spruce it up, flowers, paint just find a nice soothing or invigorating theme, whatever. I just helped a friend open up a salon this is what we put int hers and shes rockin out.

Lastly, and this is important, if your stylist come in and are not on point with ther look ( ie rotted hair, or just looking generally haggared) SEND them HOME. I don't want to be touched by some chick wo look like she just rolled off the wrong side of the bed.

First timer discounts like mani/pedi/scalp massage/shoulder rub for a nominal fee (in Vegas new spas do that for $20-$35.) The idea is to get people in the door, not make a bunch of money... Then trust your employees to do their best! Try going to your nearby gyms to see if you can hand out fliers. Remember, the only thing that will keep people coming back to your salon is the QUALITY OF SERVICE THEY RECEIVE. Price isn't the issue as long as you're competitive...

Good luck!

Is a salon a hair dresser?

Coz if that is the case - Hot chicks - n not ridiculous prices... my hair cut usually takes 10 - 15 minutes... and some places will charge $50 and others $25 for the same cut...

So no rip off prices and hot chicks...

my sister has a salon too. you should try specials. like a free cut with any color service things like that special days of the week for senior citizens, mother daughter Saturdays mom full price daughter half price, one discount day per week etc. If you are interested I can make you a monthly calendar with the different specials and some flyer's to pass out and coupons to use of course there will be a fee.

You might want to try broadening your magazine Subscriptions to be more friendly towards certain people say you want more teenagers get magazines like Teen People and Music magazines. If you want more men to come try car magazines and some decent stuff in men's Interest magazines. Often people will leave your salon over such petty little things like reading material. Also try making it more noticeable to passerbys like most men will probably decide they want a Haircut when they see a Hot Hair stylist working on someone's hair.

a laid back and approachable environment is a big factor for me to want to go to a salon. I do not want to feel intimidated when I walk in as if they feel I am not good enough to walk in the front door... as it is I am already feeling sort of 'exposed' when I go in due to the fact I'm allowing people to touch/manipulate my personal space and body wether for hair, makeup, nails, massage, etc.. So making me feel okay with all that makes it easier on me, the client. Hope that feedback helps.

Hmm...a salon that would attract me would be one that has pretty colors and is neat/clean looking. Also, make sure you put up posters with models that have cute hairstyles. Oh yeah, and you should have special deals or something..like on Fridays it could be that anyone who gets there hair done/cut gets there hair washed for free. :) good luck with your salon.

1.) that it is not hard to get a appointment.
2.) that the cuts look right when I try to fix it not just you do it.
3.) price will help but not hinder.
4.) atmosphere make it friendly and do not have a bunch of squealing employees running around that why I left the last one they had 8 women and four act like they were 12 years old.
