the security alert thing is a type of malware that is can't be deleted or removed by ad-aware or spybot at this moment......so i suggest to junk your IE and download Mozilla Firefox at the moment and keep updating your ad-aware until such time that they will be finally removed.

If you clicked too many of them you are screwed. You have to be somewhat tech savy or you get spyware. Here is the hint, unless you are installing something, then if something is a popup it is fake or it is SPYWARE. You can download Spy bot search and destroy and Adware SE, both are the top spyware/adware programs and both are free.

But if you did what my dad did to his pc, you would have to be one of the most elite hackers in the world to hack the windows registry to remove the spyware and adware once it has gone deep into the system. If those programs don't work, you are screwed. Have fun saving all your important data and doing your first reinstall of windows!

Next time don't be so stupid to click on everything you see. It kinda is like believing everything you hear. "you are going to die unless you spend $100 on this test." Sounds crazy right if you went along with it? Sounds just as crazy to me as you clicking on everything that pops up and not being able to decifer what someone made up. Get some instinct or actually give that your computer is getting messed up. You are pretending like it doesn't matter. Yah it doesn't matter if you leave your gun loaded on the coach when you have kids around. Hey when you go on the internet watch what the hell your doing, you have the potential to kill someone. Hey look, no more adware!!!

First of all, are you using Internet Explorer as your browser? Because IE actually sucks really bad compared to all the other free browsers you *could* be using. Go to mozilla.com and download their FireFox browser -- it's free, and you'll hardly notice a difference other than the lack of pop-ups. IE is known to be really prone to security problems, whereas Mozilla is waay better. Google Mozilla and IE to read some real articles on it if you're still hesitant.

Also, like someone mentioned, download Ad-Aware SE -- it's a very nice tool to have.

But if you're still plagued with problems, go to GeeksToGo.com. Those are the ones who'll know just what to do with your computer! It's nice, too, 'cause it's a forum (much like this one) that real 'computer geeks' can answer. Give it a go if the above steps don't help any!

there are some viruses that plant a virus, and then show you stuff to get rid of it , but those are viruses also. so either you have viruses, or the popups are just fakes so when you click them you get a virus. it happened to my pc, i had to buy a special anti spyware and pop up blocker progam: Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet security 2006.

I suggest Ad-aware from LavaSoft (www.lavasoft.de). You can download the personal version for free.

And, I suggest PestPatrol from Computer Associates. You can download a free trial.

Lastly, switch to Firefox. It is less vulnerable than Internet Exploder.

Had the same little bug myself a while back. It's a trojan horse virus. Download a shareware demo called Trojan Hunter here and run it after installing. It should take care of the problem
