If I'm using it and its plugged into the wall for too long will it make my laptop battery die or be overcharged. If I didn't use it and left it plugged will it overcharge?

How long should I charge it for?

I just got a laptop...its kind of hard to understand at this point

I always leave my laptop plugged in and the battery charging. Nothing bad happens so there's nothing to worry about.

Nothing to worry about. Laptops use very advanced batteries and chargers. They will not overcharge or let the battery die. Just leave it plugged in and use it normally. If the battery starts to die, the laptop will turn off and protect the battery. You're safe.

Depending upon what kind of battery. If its Lithium Ion it doesnt matter but if its NiMh then they say you should use it til it drains.
