I was wondering as to why my computer might be freezing and if there is anything I can do about it?

Computer freezing is the symptom of a virus attack.

The worst of these is the AV Killer.bat.

Usually, you will experience slow speeds and lagging before it freezes.

My suggestion is that you run your antivirus and remove any virus you might have there.

A free download anti-virus, that I would reccommend, which I've been using for a very long time and which gives me optimal protection, is Avast. You can get this from the link I've provided below. The licence, for a Home User, is free of cost.

Though not as common, but a thing that has been known to contribute to computer crashes is the negligence of the user who allows a lot of junk to pile up on the user computer that eats up all the resources.

Just to ensure that this is not the reason, I'd reccommend that you free space on your computer by [a] deleting cookies and offline content and history in the Internet Options of the Tools of your Internet Explorer; [b] deleting unused and unecessary programs that you may have downloaded; and [c] transferring music and video files to a cd or dvd to free the space there.

Hope this will help you resolve your issue.

Cheers!

The computer I am using now is a Dell and it freezes only slightly less than my Hewlett Packard. Scan for spyware, adware, and viruses and if you are fairly certain you don't have any of those, try re-installing the programs that seem to be making your computer freeze.

Could be a virus, or temperature problem. Try unplugging everything and dust it out, then scan for viruses. There are plenty of other thing you could try as well, Check out my blog for details at http://fixyourownpc.blogspot.com/
