If the mom is in good shape without any complicating medical conditions, natural birth without any anesthesia is the best way for the baby's sake. Plus the adrenalin rush you experience when the baby is born is the greatest high you will ever feel.

Natural. I am a home birther (2 kids-one in my living room, one in my bathtub). So I don't advocate anything intrusive except in case of an emergency (more likely if you are in a hospital, no kidding).
Check out mothering.com It's a magazine by and for mothers and has had many many articles on natural vs. C-section. It's pretty crunchy and really comes down hard on the side of natural. They do a good job of backing up their claims if you would want to research it further.
Natural is best for baby and for mommy. I don't know where people get the notion that it makes the baby smarter or that it's better for baby. It's more dangerous for both. For baby, you run the risk of lacerations. For mom's, it's major abdominal surgery, with all that intales.
Labor is a right of passage for Mom's and for babies. Don't make the choice to take that important right away from them or you.

A vaginal delivery is most healthy for both baby and momma.
A C-section should be used if the baby has problems, or as a last resort if problems prevent a normal delivery. It is major abdominal surgery. Mom has more pain in recovery, and is more at risk to infection. Also babies born via C-section have more respiratory problems.
The journey down the birth canal is good for the baby, as the squeeze helps to work the liquid and mucos out of it's lungs and system. To prepare it for it's first breath and healthy start.

Natural birth is the best! Because you will feel how to labor in a normal way so as to bring to life a new creature and it is cheaper, too.
Please try to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. But do not eat banana Q, watermelon and too much carbohydrates. It's ok if your baby will come out as a tiny creature rather than a big creature. Because with a tiny creature, natural and normal birth is necessary. But with bigger creature, although there's a tendency to have a normal delivery, Ceasarian is the last alternative so as to save you and the baby.

A natural birth is safer for the courageous Mommy. What does your doctor think? C-section babies are not smarter than naturally born babies. That is total hogwash. An epidural anesthesia does not affect the baby. The old saddle/spinal block used to make them drowsy, not epidurals. My babies were all born naturally and their little heads were so perfectly round they were beautiful. When it comes to complications, then the whole scene can change in a moment.

I am thinking that a c section might be a lot less demanding on the baby physically, but a natural birth is more..... natural....

Natural birth. Any time you are introducing strong chemicals like what they need to use it is hard on both mother and baby. Plus, mom is recovering from surgery rather than child birth which is usually faster to recover from. Plus, because you have a scar the uterus isn't a strong for subsequent pregnancies. However! This is important - if you are in labour or your obstetrician tells you you need a cesearian, it would be advisable to listen to her, not having one in many types of situations (like baby stuck, breech, transverse, etc) is dangerous so use common sense is what I'd recommend.

A c-section is best for babies with spina bifida, and in general it doesn't squeeze the baby so hard, like it does when he comes out the birth canal. The head bones aren't nearly as misshapen in c-section babies. It all depends on the baby - my baby went into distress and they had to do an immediate c-section. Other babies come out fine the usual way.

A natural birth is what women were designed to do, what women have done for thousands of years, so I would say natural. Unless there is a reason that your doctor can say for a c-section of course. I had a c-section because my son was overdue (I was at 41 weeks) and he was showing NO signs of coming out, he hadn't dropped & I hadn't even begun to dialate at all.

Natural because it is mother nature's way. It squeezes all the fluid out of the baby's lungs to he/she doesn't have "wet lungs." However, just because you have a c-section doesn't mean that your baby will have a problem with "wet lungs." I had a c-section (because of high blood pressure and stress on the baby) and it was wonderful..no pushing, no sweating, no pain. My baby was fine and had no problems with anything (other than being preemie, but c-section had nothing to do with that).
