why do girls waste so much money on make-up? I do not need it but it's fun to put it on now and then...eyeliner and maybe eyeshadow but why ...do you have to put layers of concealer and powder...and etc...guys like natural beauty..not a painted face..ladies...i just can't understand..why pretty girls need to wear it all caked on.

That is a very good question. It mostly goes back to self confidence. These days it's all about how you look and not who you are. Girls are taught that at a young age.
Then compounded with the media and all the "touched up" beauty you see in magazines and TV, they think that all girls should look like that no matter what it takes, or...how many layers it requires.
Some do take it to the extreme, and look more like a clown than a supermodel. They just need someone (possibly someone who has studied cosmetology) to go through the makeup process to show them how to accent the good and not hide everything else. Let them know that in most cases, less is more.
I do wear makeup when I go to work, but nothing serious. But, I'm not one of those who can't leave the house without it.

I don't know a lot of girls who wear very much make up, but then you know what they say, birds of a feather will flock together. My routine is and always has been this: Moisturizer (sometimes tinted in winter), lipgloss, mascara. That's it. It's natural and brings out my eyes and protects my lips while making them look a little more inviting. Drinking lots and lots of water is very important. If you get a little zit, then a little concealer is definitely in order, one that matches the shade of your skin. The girls I know that wear make up have low self esteem or are the kind that go with the "in" things. I think natural is best, but I also know a girl that wears makeup to hide a purple birthmark on the entire left side of her face. So, there you go.

Easy girl,
Its our society... Its a faze... the world is in.. We see it in magizines, movies, television.. etc.. Its all about the apperance.

Got to be skinny as heck just to get guys attention. Finding out the newest and neatest diets to do that or just plain be anarexic.

Same with make up, We (COVER UP) Simply put,
We cover up the flaws on our face. Zits, Blemishes, etc..

You know We do that non intentionaly when we sin against God. We sin and then we want to go hide and cover it up. because we feel weird and dirty, and feel convicted and then you start feeling rejected.
Society is foolish!! If you sit down and think about it.
Sex sells, Diets sell, Make up sells, Condoms sell.
Porn sells, C'mon and the main root of all of this comes down to this.... :
It's all about the bucks in the pockets... Everyone has their hand out for something.
I have been thinking about this long and hard and I Know this is true. Babies are born into sin, cause they are born into this world. and society claims that when you wear make up you will get the attention you deserve and that guys will like you more.

and I found as well that they pay more attention to you without it.
Natural is the best remedy I do have to say....
I got it.. Lets both invent the make up they you never have to worry about washing off or the eye liner that will smear or the mascara that will never run underneath your eyes when you cry..

IT'S CALLED : ALL NATURAL.. TRY NO MAKE UP !

Well, I think I made my point.. lol....

Now you know there is more then one girl in this world that backs you up on this: 4 sure!!

Don't cover up, Reveal it girl!!

somegirls wear a lot of makeup to hide bad skin. its really not a good idea because a lot of young giirls do not know the proper way to apply makeup this is why it looks caked on, the other thing tthey should do is stop using liquid makeup. and ytry a cream base thw best make up that is healthy for your skin is mineral make up that is brushed on it comes in a powder form and there is no way it can cake up so it looks more narural, it also has an srf of 20so here is no need for any extra sunscreen,

I beleive the same way. The girls today, must think that the more they have on the better they look, bless their hearts, they don't realize how much prettier they would be , if they were to look like a natural lady. And a small amount goes a long way. Thank you.

Because society tells girls that they must wear everything on the make up market. All you hear about in the media is make-up, make-up, make-up. And btw, girls who wear make up aren't ugly whores. That's degrading. Girls wear it because the pressure to always be perfect and beautiful is overwhelming. And most men do not understand that.

a lot of people lack self confidence and feel that if they put a lot of makeup on it means that they are prettier. some girls have to wear make up like me because i have blond eyelashes and i dont' want to look like a 6 year old every time i go out in public so i rarely wear anything less than just mascara.

Ok... Why are you all so pre-occupied with this question in the first place? All your answers are valid and correct--whether girls wear make-up as a societal norm, or to attract mates, or to cover up their insecurities....it doesn't matter. I agree that the caked-up drag-queen look in the middle of the day is awful to say the least and ridiculous--it makes you laugh and cringe on the inside at the same time. But make-up has existed since humans discovered beauty and aesthetic pleasures--that is, from the beginning. If we did not have certain ways to distinguish ourselves from others, then we'd practically be clones, and needless to mention, we'd be a boring species indeed....
I wear make-up because it's part of who I am. I've never, ever over-done it, and I rarely wear foundation, only concealer on blemishes and red patches, and my sometimes very noticable under-eye circles. I happen to study humans as a career so I've always kept up with the norms, trends and changes in people's defininitions of themselves. I consider myself very tasteful in the way that I apply make-up that most people tell me that they don't think I'm wearing any. That is an art my friends! An art that comes from knowing yourself and what fits your mood, personality and self-image. So I usually opt for concealer, lip-gloss and the 40s style eyeliner look, kind of like what Angelina Jolie does. I've worn my eye-liner like that since I was a junior in high school and have played with different shades of brown, navy and black--all to complement my olive complexion and brown eyes. It's no surprise then that most people are surprised that I am wearing a little make-up.
Another thing: make-up, if done tastefully, complements one's personality and clothes. But I personally have never applied make-up that alters the way I look. I would have felt like a clown and I'm sure some girls do but are afraid to admit it to themselves! When I take my make-up off, I look more pale, and sometimes wahed-out if not sickly, but I still look like me. My natural features are preserved and that is what make-up should never interfere with! For special occasions, it's totally fine to play it up but please, girls, don't do dark eye-shadow and eye-liner and vampy red or plum lipstick. And another big tip: don't ever make your lip-liner noticable! That is the worst make-up blunder if there ever was one! Give me bushy, unplucked eyebrows any day!

And last but not least, and I'm talking to all you females like me out there. Wear make-up to enhance who you are--not to hide it. True beauty shines from within, believe it or not! A nice, agreeable disposition (smile and good-nature) win over your worst feelings about yourself any day! And that is sooooo attractive! So whether you wear make-up or not, remember to take care of yourself on the inside first. Make-up then becomes fun and not a chore...

Some girls. Some girls can pull off the no makeup and look exactly the same as they do with makeup. But others when they take off their makeup, wow they look completly different (and not in a good way)

Haha and i like how every girl on here says they have never worn it. It's just like the question to a girl, do you masturbat e? The answer is always no, ewww that's disgusting. But we all know better.

When make up are used sparingly....they do help in enhancement of your natural beauty,... and i'm not talking about those chicks who don thier faces with 10inch make up just for thier grocery shopping in Wal Mart.
