Does anyone have any comments on how he played the role?

He did well, I think. For this to be his first big role, and having to live up to something like Superman. I think he did excellent.
And he IS very pretty to look at :D

He looked nervous at times..I know as Clark he's supposed to be shy..but as Clark...he would have already been familiar with everything he saw..like at the Daily Planet, yet...Brandon Routh played it as if he was seeing it for the first time. And he looked incredibly young! I expected the new Superman to be youngish but have a more mature look..does that make sense? Plus he had on too much makeup. With that said..I think he did a good job!

He's good but he is no Christopher Reeve. Just think, they had to find an actor who looked like Christopher Reeve to keep the franchise alive. That says a lot.
