Vague question alert! When are you doing so? Why are you doing so? Is your car moving while you are doing this?

It is not bad to shift from drive to neutral. It might cause poroblems if you "rev" your engine in neutral then shift it into a drive gear at that higher rpm (from a stop, especially).

It's not good, but its not horrible either. Just be sure not to drop it back into drive from neutral while the engine is revving high like that. This is called a "neutral drop" and if done in the right type of car, can lead to hug tire smoking burnouts. It also beats the heck out of the transmission.

yes because your transmission works by hadraulics and mechanical components. Engaging your drive when accelerating from a stop in neutral creates highpreasure and engages the lower gear and over revs the engine as it does not have enough time to switch, and by spining the wheels it also forces hydraulics to jam the mecanical gear untill you release fuel or there is a change in pressure damaging components. Simply put is bad! HEY CERTEFIED GUY YOU NEED TO ACTUALLY GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY TO KNOW THAT IS WORSE ON A REAR WHEEL DRIVE THAN A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.

Eventually you will have problems depending on the condition of the transmission. Each time you shift into drive the forward clutch pack applies, and each time it applies it wears a tiny bit since the friction plates and steel plates spin independant of each other until the piston applies the pack completely to lock the plates together. The torque converter was designed to allow you to stop with the transmission in drive or reverse without having to put it in neutral. I suggest you allow the transmission to operate the way it was designed to, unless you like spending money at transmission shops.

No. But I know the reason you do that is so you can shift it back into drive while the engine is reved for effect. That will cook your pump every time.

if you are talking about revving in neutral then going to drive, yes it is. you can easily strip the gears, especially in a front-wheel drive

is it bad to rev your engine when the car is not in gear? not really, unless you go excessively on the gas and over heat something, or turn something too hard.

Well it's not bad as long & you don't go nuts with it. You aren't going to hurt the tranny unless you do a neutral drop. You could only hurt what's under the hood.

Why do you want to do that? If I tried changing gears like that with my manual trans without the clutch completely engaged, there would some nasty noises.
