research was done showing that only about 1500 slaves were brought over by ships records. some were treated good by the maters, but most were property and were bought for large sums of money. a top slave would bring 2 grand to a few hundred dollars. many of the masters were actually spanish not white. many had children through the slaves. the slaves used left over food known today as hogs feet and other things to live on. they were bred to get males as they needed them for the cotton fields. many escaped to become free, but some were brought back to their masters as they would pay a bounty to get them back. later they were used by some white plantations and helped the rich get richer. there were many slaves by the late 1800's which the plantations used and many top slaves that were considered part of the family inherited the lands which they developed. as time went on even with lincoln freeing the slaves, it wasn't accepted as people unitl the 1970's. society wouldn't accept the slaves as people. there were actually very few whites that had control as the plantations were so huge, they could have several hundred slaves at one time. there was alot of white slavery as many girls that were young or pretty were used for prostitution. in part if not for slavery , we don't know how the world would have turned out. we would be farther back in time and not advanced as we are. most slaves were sold by their own villages as the spanish paid alot of money for the good ones, then selling them to plantation owners for several times what they paid. it brought about more commerace and there were alot of white slaves to. if you owed money, you had to work it off or go to the territoral prisons. in both groups roday, if not what they went through, we wouldn't be where we are today.

It has had a profound impact on our nation. In our arrogant hypocrisy we create a Bill of Rights detailing the rights fo men while at the same time allowing people of a different race to be treated as cattle.

Slavery was one of the causes of the American Civil War, which has shaped this nation more than perhaps any other national experience.

The Civil Right's movement struggled to obtain the freedom and justice for Black Americans that was paid in blood during the Civil War. (sorry folks no need for reparations. The debt was paid in blood and my fellow Black Americans who think differently need to visit Arlington Cemetary, Gettysburg, Shiloh, Vicksburg and on and on. That will cure you of reparations baloney.)

But this great nation did benefit from the horrible institution of slavery in so much as it brought Africans to this country and ensured that America would truly be a melting pot of all races. And in America men and women of African descent have contributed greatly to the world and in my opinion far greater as members of the this great nation than in Africa itself.
