I'm going to New Orleans next spring from May 17 - May 21, what is the weather usually like? And how should I dress? Lists are always nice. Part of the time I will be at a convention but I may be going out a bit.
[I'll of course only be going provided it doesn't have it's *** kicked by another hurricane.]

Dress very casual and comfortable, preferably jeans and comfortable shirt or blouse. Also comfortable shoes. You will be walking alot. It would be good to have a sun hat as well. This will be your after hour attire.
If you have to be a little dressy for the convention, wear very light and comfortable clothes and shoes
The weather will probably in the 80 's going into the 90's. The humidity is very high here which makes it muggy and you sweat quite a bit.
Do Not wear any expensive jewelry. Keep your money and credit cards safe preferably in your pants, skirt or jeans pocket.
The French Quarter and the downtown business district is in fairly decent shape.
Be sure to go to Cafe DuMonde for coffee and beignets. There are a lot of tours around the French Quarter and The Garden District. There are many fabulous restaurants. You can get a list at your hotel or motel. Be sure to have breakfast at Brennan's, a muffalatta at The Central Grocery and a buggy tour through the French Quarter. See the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral and visit the shops in the quarter.
Hopefully there won't me any more hurricanes like Katrina for a long, long time.

If your going to be going into the French Quarter like on BOURBON St. then DON'T...I REPEAT...DO NOT WEAR your EXPENSIVE JEWELRY....You WILL be a TARGET.
Do NOT GO ALONE....people down there KNOW if your NOT from there...
NOLA can be alot of fun and you can have a great time.
May will be HOT....take shorts, t-shirts, etc. + the clothes that your going to wear at the convention.
If you want to hear some real CAJUN music & eat Cajun Food

Don't dress too nice, just the normal type of high heals you would wear to a convention in vegas.

I would have to suggest fisherman's boots (the one's that come to the knees) - OR scuba gear because chances are it will be underwater again...
