Hey he is the "Decider"....I hope not...I cant imagine a president making all of the executive decisions on his own but bush may be either dumb or nuts enough to try...I think cheney has alot to do with things...alot of the tings that have been done are a little to sneaky and clever to expect from bush....iraq may seem like an idiotic move but i know why they really did it (im confident i do) and ultimately it was to keep america safe, just not from violence but from the international trade....the powers he's gained for the govt (that i dont agree with at all) after 9/11...many things seem to well done to be the work of the guy that i saw 2 days ago on TV talking about the missile situation (N. Korea) and in reference to coming to a diplomatic solution he said --the problem with diplomacy is it takes along time to get everyone together (the world) and come to terms on something (the president holding the title as Chief Diplomat of the U.S.)

so many one sided answers...On any given issue to which the President makes a decision, Bush makes the final decision. Cheney, Cabinet members and others certainly play a role in many decisions, but that is why they are there in the first place, to act as advisors. In that respect, Bush therefore does not make all the white house decisions on his own. As to how much input he takes from various other advisors relatvie to prior presidents, he is certainly not the most independently decisive executive. But he does not seem to differ radically from prior Presidents. As to some of the prior answers, look at the constitution, Bush does have thousands of decisions to make that do not involve Congress at all.

Of course he doesn't make all the white house decisions on his own!!!! Behind every strong and powerful man there is always a stronger woman telling him what to do......I can't believe there are still some people here who think men run things......
On a more serious note....it irritates me to hear everyone run down Bush for every little issue, It may be true that he has the final vote on allot of the decisions but he has dozens of political advisers as well as personal advisers basically "telling" him what to do or say.....the President doesn't single-handily do anything....

Bush is a front man. All he's ever really been successful at in his whole life, is to make the investors feel all warm and fuzzy so they'll fork over the cash.

Bush couldn't make a hard decision by himself if his life depended on it. Why do you think Cheney had to go with him to the 9/11 hearings? Why can't the President testify on his own?

Maybe because he doesn't know what is going on?

He gets a lot of advice and many things are done ahead of him in the Senate and Congress. He has power though to veto or bend things towards his goals.

I don't think he makes many decisions on his own. His demonstrated cronyism shows that he lets other people make decisions and follows their advice. Unfortunately, it is to our country's deficit.

First he makes very view decisions, most things are decided in Congress and voted on there.

I can't beleive how mis-informed people are on what they think he can and can't do.
