This whole debate with conservatives bashing liberals and liberals bashing conservatives is absolutely CRAZY and it is so JR. HIGH. Just listen to yourselves, it is laughable.
The way these discussions are going it seems everyone wants violent demonstrations on the street with the country as divided as it was during the Civil Rights era and the Anti-War demonstrations in the Sixties.
The first thing people is to start thinking for yourselves instead of letting some self-important loudmouth tell you what to think. I don't care if the loudmouth is Ann Coulter, Ted Kennedy, George W Bush, Al Gore, Al Franken or Rush Limbaugh. If you are truly intelligent, why will you let the opinion of one person or group of people tell you what to think? That includes your preacher and your teacher. I am sure that once you open your mind and start thinking on your own, you will actually like it.
This whole debate regarding who is and is not religious has absolutely no place in political discussion. The First Ammendment of the Constitution of the United States clearly prohibits the government from establishing a state religion. If a state religion had been established at the time of the creation of this country, I am pretty sure it would not have been Baptist or Pentacostal or any of the other evangelical churches. It would more likely have been Congregational, Anglican or perhaps Presbyterian. The problem with having a state church is that it then leads to persecution or discrimination against non-members. Think of it as being the equivalent of having to belong to the Communist or Baathist parties in order to have access to good jobs and perks.
In my opinion the Clinton years were some of the best we had in this country for a long time. Not because the president was a Democrat or that liberals were in control. Because the government was in deadlock with the Republicans controlling both the House and the Senate. The only way to do business was to talk to each other and compromise. I do not trust power being in the hands of a single person or party.
So, boys and girls, talk to that Liberal/Conservative over there that you have been insulting and instead find out why they think differently than you do. You don't have to change your minds, but maybe you will have a better understanding of the issues and realize that someone who opposes your point of view is not a total idiot.
I am just expressing my opinion, but I suspect many of you will take exception to what I have said. I am not attacking any one person or side, I just think this whole Liberal vs. Conservative bash fest is the last thing this country needs right now. It is beneath us and distracts us from truly paying attention to what is really going on in this country and the world.
May God bless us all with an open mind and the wisdom to make the correct choices.

I'm a liberal, and I read an Ann Coulter book. I don't feel too horrible. I actually was pleased to see that someone had the guts to put that rubbish in print. And by the way, your answer earlier this evening about exterminating liberals like Hitler did the Jews is extremely offensive. I do believe that liberals are better read then you back woods redneck conservatives. Look at the average college professor, and, ummm, I do believe you'll see a liberal.

What's the deal in this country? There hasn't been so much division and hatred for fellow countrymen since the Civil War.
Ever heard of "divide and conquer"? Or for those versed in the scriptures "A house divided cannot stand"? Unless we get our crap together and start patching things up, we're doomed.
People like Ann Coulter and others on the Liberal side like Al Franken are doing nothing to make this country better. They just want to sell books, or movies, or improve their ratings by being as provoking and outrageous as they can.

You can't. And here's why, in conservative terms that you will understand: it's a market economy, and, when you offer shabby goods at prices no rational consumer will pay, you sell fewer goods. Hence, if Ann Coulter's works are selling only to conservatives--as seems to be the case--then, assuming as any conservative must that the market is perfectly optimizing, every irrational consumer with a dollar has been satisfied, and those more-or-less-rational consumers who were willing to own Coulter's shabby work at the price offered have bought all that they want.
If this analysis seems to point to the conclusion: "Conservatives are irrational, or content with shabby goods, or unconcerned with the niceties of marginal utility", you're stuck with it. By the way, that conclusion works when the author of crappy work is Liberal, too. Only the Liberal buffoons will buy it, in that case.

One need only read the titles of these books to know how horrible they are. You don't even need to be a liberal to figure that out.
Anyone who doesn't agree with her fascist ideals (read any encyclopedia and compare the policies she promotes with those defined as fascism) is "evil", regardless of the actions, regardless of the results. She's no better than Fred Phelps (the "godhatesfags.com" guy who has his minions protest at KIA soldiers funerals).
She doesn't care who she attacks -- widows of terrorist attacks, Nobel prize winning economists, Nobel peace prize winners. She's like an automaton with one message. (robot voice) "ANYTHING LIBERAL IS BAD ... ANYTHING CONSERVATIVE IS GOOD"
She is part of the overall degradation of political dialog that is killing this country. If we can't turn this around and start listening to each other without tearing each other apart, we will be a third world country by the end of the next decade, while the Chinese and Indians walk right past us economically.

The thing is, liberals usually read books, analize facts, try to get information. Let us remember that people voted for the present 'president' are, by statistics, mostly either have extremely low level of education, or fanatically religious. The higher education level or the more ability of independent thinking - the higher probability that the person voted against Bush. Reading and thinking is good.

Sorry to give you the BAD news...GOD isn't strictly a Republican, and "Liberals" , many of them are conservatives. We just don't agree with running the middle class into the ground and creating a higher poverty rate in this country.
As for Ann Coulter, she needs an education.

Make it a condition of their parole they have to read her books onto tapes for the impaired. Play the tapes in prison. Something for them to do while under house arrest. Easy to locate the eligible convicts. If they are convicted chances are they vote democrat when they are permitted to vote. Least that is what the Dem's say in Florida where felons have lifetime disenfranchisement.
