Clearly the answer if no because if he is their best PK shooter he would have gone last. And, becuase Italy was amazing in the PK's France didn't even get a final kick. So, hence Zidane would not have even taken a PK. Anyone else agree? (I can't wait to see what you ridiculous french fans say.)

I agree 9237529385984765987%. Its clearly all here! I'll be checking back for ridiculous french fan answers! I'm glad someone feels the same way! True, if he was their best PK shooter, he should have gone last. Italy was incredible. There is no way Zidane would have taken a PK.

Personal opinion..

Heard from a friend, in Italy's previous game, their coach changed strategy halfway through the extra time and know exactly how it will fustrate the Germans to react adversely, and thus, will allow them a chance of penalty shot.

Italy played very rough game from the start, seemingly intentional to provoke French to react. Zidane, especially close with his fellow conrades, seems fustrated with their rough acts from the start. For him to tolerate these + 100mins of tired out body and mind + Personal abuse, I can't help but feel it could be part of the Italian's tactic, because he is too good for them in skills.

Eveybody got a soft spot for something. Something they can never swallow. I agree with his coach, it is not an acceptable behaviour, but I can somehow understand why he reacted this way, if the rumour is true of the personal attack.

Zidane could have taken the final kick and not have the chance to if that is how it seems. But if the red-card episode did not happen and he is not out, I believe the French would be more focus and confident and would have won the game.

I remembered going to Australia and do have some 'skin problem' with the locals at times. Once, this guy scolded 'yellow banana' at us the Asian students. We were so mad, few of our classmates immediately threw our shoes and books at his car. He was verbal, we became physical. Not right for us to behave this way? I agree. But I would have reacted if it happens again a hundred times.

I still respect Zidane alot. Cheer his rights and trust his wrongs :)

May be u should think abt indian cricket team that having sachin tendulkar more as a mentor and provide psychological up boost to the team.likewise zidane is a maestro.the french people would be more confident when he is in the field.moreover what the hell must materazi must have told zidane such that he was provoked to hit him.may be abt his country, may be abt his mom or dad or wife or kid.if u were a human u must or will be provoked.that's natural.i'm damn sure that if zidane was on the field it would be the france's day.dont forget that if it had been a penalty shoot out too zidane is very good in that.the first goal is an eg.

France would have probably won because Zidane is good in PK and that could have encourage his teammates to score.

I don't think so, I mean he's great and all but you're right. If Zidane had done PK's, he would have gone last. Which means that if they still missed any shots, he wouldn't have taken his. You can't worry about "what ifs", though. Things happen.

hell yeah..all i can say is italy is better in acting than playing in those finals. Zidane would have made the PK they needed. But still, he scored a headbutt that Materazzi deserved

Zidane is one of the players who can change a game.
At the finals, all it takes is a personal briliance to change the game. He was sent off in the 110th minute, with more than 10 minutes remaining.
that is a whole lot of time to score three goals.
If u go back to champions league finals,Liverpool scored 3 goals against AC Milan in 7 minutes to win the cup.
Manchester utd. scored 2 goals in just a minute against Bayern in 1999 to win.

It is very evident that Zidane's exit demoralized the French. However with or without Zidane, Trezeguet still missed that penalty shot. They would have lost anyway.

Against is 50-50... Zidane would have taken the first kick not the last... And if everything went as it happened, they would have still lost...
