It is in your history folder. If you are using Internet Explorer and don't have a History tab on your top bar, go to View, then Explorer Bar, then History. It will show where you've been, and you can delete what you don't want other people to see, or else find the site you wish you could remember.
Another thing that happens is that cookies get stored in your Temporary Internet Files folder. Do a search for this folder if you want to delete your cookies. OR, you can go to Tools, then Internet Options, then General, and hit Delete Cookies.

Yes, information is stored on your searches in the form of cookies. Your computer has a folder for cookies on its drive. These cookies can be deleted and reviewed by looking at the folder. It is also possible to delete these cookies by using the drop down options from toolbar.

Well some of it gets stored in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder.
On my computer, it's found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\(Your username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
If you dont have the same path, just do a search for "Temporary Internet Files" and you'll probably find it.
Hope this helps.
