The city I live in (25,000 population) is considering passing a law that you will be charged with child abuse if you smoke while children are in the car with you. What do you think about that?

I think it's a great idea. Smoking is such an irritant and so unhealthy, especially to children. Children can have severe earaches, and nasal problems due to cigarette smoke. I hope more places would consider this.

Look, I HATE smoking so bad... that I wish I can go to the Smoking Factory and business company related to smoking and being the terrorist. Explosive, plane or even cut off the electricity.. Beside, every person I didn't know smoke walking by me, I just glare at them and gave them "I don't want to die!!!...P.S, I know where you live!!! :)

I want the smoking ban from the U.S but case of the child abuse if you smoke while children are in the car with you is very good start. It is like killing your own child but slowly... I wil even tell the leader that I would plan the petition if you want. I just want he drugs removed from the U.s so tha the people could have healthy lives!!!

even though its not good for the children, it will wind up getting thrown out or challenged. supreme court rulings have stated the car is a mans castle as is his home. there was a case that stated along time ago that each person had the right to do to his or her health and the government could not interfer with the health of persons. even though many things may be bad for us, its the not government that has the legal right to tell us how we are to live.since its a legal product in which the government makes billions off of. it would be hard to pass a law against a legal product. just like booze, its legal to drink in your home, but if the children smell it. is it abuse. you smoke at home with the children so it boils down to the government going beyond their powers.

Fits right in with a child can now divorce his parents, make claims of abuse and win. I feel if there is a child around, the parent should remind people that it is unsafe and could they refrain from smoking around their children. Myself, I always ask before I light up. Just a common courtesty as I know a lot of people do not like smoke.

No, it's not. I used to have a friend whose father used to smoke around her all the time. It's not illegal, but keep in mind it can increase the child's changes of getting lung cancer from second-hand smoke.

Sure, lets make everything illegal and lock parents up for anything you and the state doesnt like. Take away the kids and put them in foster homes because you dont approve of smoking. Yes, that sounds like the home of the free too me. Thats exactly what all of our soldiers have fought and died for. Liberals are just so damned happy to give away all of our freedoms in the name of safety. Its no wonder people dont want to have kids anymore, busy bodied liberals are f'ing up the world.

good question. i dont know that i would go so far as to legislate it. if the health of ones child isnt enough to motivate a parent, then i doubt its not-enforceable illegality will make much difference.

that being said, they should legalize beating the crap out of anyone seen smoking in their car with children.

we need to put a stop to it i been smoking for 7 years and 4 weeks ago i quit because i took a look at my kids and realize that i can go any day but i never smoked around them and it's sad that parents can't contol their craving even around their kids.

its really sad how children are exposed to drinking and smoking and bad TV, when children are at the understanding age adults advise them don't drink and don't do drugs or break the law when as adults we expose them to these things
