Hes a guy. It will be very simple. Ask him out... he won't play games and will give you a yes or no answer. If you are the least bit attractive and he's single it will probably be a yes.

I think you should ask him to go to the movies but ask him to hang out with you at the movies and not go to the movies because if he doesnt like you now he still might "hang" out with you and then like once the movie is over say like that you had alot of fun and ask him if he would like to do it again sometime and then maybe the next time he will ask you and then you know he likes you to and then he should then soon ask you out, out. If he doesn't ask you out, it is because he is not interested. Don't force any situation.
