No - in some areas that is illegal. Just scare it away, and if this is a recurring problem, use a humane trap to catch it and then call your animal control officer to see what should be done.

Only if you are from Kentucky and you are gonna eat it. How about calling animal control in your city/county to come and set a trap and remove the critter? Either that or quit smoking so you don't see the pesky varmit in your garbage can!

don't corner him - they have real long claws and will bite you. Open the garage door, and close it again after he leaves. you might get him to leave sooner by making noise, but DON'T stand between the racoon and the door.

Yes. Even if it's an animal, being on ur property w/out permission is trespassing, home invasion, and breaking and entering. But a more humane way is to call ur local animal control.

you shouldn't be smoking in your garage it's dangerous if there is gasoline, or any other type of thing with fumes.
shooting the raccoon would depend on where you live, in the country, maybe, you still might want to call animal control
in town ,no, call animal control and they should trap it

Leave it be. Take your trash in and it won't rummage around in there. If you take away the trash, you'll take away the racoon.

No you shouldn't shoot it...cover your trash properly and if you have to put a live trap out and relocate him or her
