wife wants to know. she swears there is a reason. I am curious...so is there?

I believe that it has to do with her heightened sense of smell.

A woman's sense of smell wil peak around her time and since smell and taste are so closely related, taste is stronger as well.

(that and when you're feeling like poo, the endorphins that are released when you have chocolate make you feel even better!)

I think it has to do with female hormones and cravings (PMS). I know that I want chocolate more also when I am on my period. I think it is the chemicals in the chocolate that are stress relievers and similar to serotonin being released. That is also why upset or stressed people sometimes crave chocolate.

Chocolate is a comfort food. Women crave sweets and salty items when on their periods. Its the changes in female hormones. Give her all the chocolate she wants and no one will get hurt.

Because we are hormonal and need a fix, and chocolate is our drug of choice for that particular time!

okay, chocolate has a chemical in it that is kind of like a pain killer. since we're on our periods and we have cramps, our body recongizes we need this chemical. so therefore we crave chocolate.
