I was just wondering. In early 1900's, it was pressured(?) by society to wear dresses. Now some churches allow women to wear pants. What is your favorite type of dress? What is the purpose of a dress with the slit in the front? Does it helps women to walk? Should dresses but made to be formal only?

I love to wear dresses and skirts much more than pants. It makes me feel feminine and pretty and in the heat, much cooler! My favorite type of dress is simple, elegant, fitted through the top with a full graceful skirt. The slit in the front or back of a skirt does allow for greater movement and also gives that little sense of daring or sexy on an otherwise conservative skirt. I can wear shorts and T shirts literally to my church but I think every Sunday this year I have chosen to be in a dress. I have nothing wrong with women wearing pants either however.

Dresses are an comfortable, femine, and becoming on almost all body shapes and sizes. Now sometimes one of these aspects is omitted, but the over all picture remains the same.

Women like to wear dresses, I think. In work situations, they're professional without having to dress like a man, and for going out they just give you that extra boost of confidence.

A dress with a slit is usually to be sexy. At least a little bit. That's another aspect that plays into why women wear dresses. Slits are to reveal something without cutting off length.

I like all sorts of dresses and think it would be a shame to only have formal ones.

I wear dresses because they make me feel feminine and they're easier to fit than pants. My favorite is the little black dress. The slit allow you to walk in a dress that's design makes walking awkward. I have dresses for formal, work, and casual.

What are you talking about that women can wear pants? That is not new information. As far as dresses go, women wear them to dress up or to be comfortable - there are tons of different kinds ranging from cotton sundresses to formal evening gowns. Different styles for different occasions.

um -- women wear dresses because they like them. Teens wear dresses to prom because they don't want to look lez.

my favorite type of dress is a spagetti strap satin number covered in chiffon with embroidery at them hem and a satin tie at the waist.

The slit in the front is for tight skirts or dresses and yes, it helps women to walk and it used to be stylish.

No -- dresses should not be made to be strictly formal.

When I wear a dress I feel pretty and I think that is how you should feel in your clothing. I believ you should wear what you feel most comfortable in whether that is a dress or pants.
