~Yup, they were the good ol' days when young people believed they could change the world into a better place and actually tried to do it. The days when kids sang protest songs, read books, and marched to demonstrate their political beliefs. Now days, it songs about killing cops, working for your pimp and doin' your bytch. Read books? March? Demonstrate? How about voting?
We have a new generation, Musicman: whine about everything and do nothing to change it. Come to think of it, maybe it's good they don't vote. The only hope we have is the few kids out there who still read, do vote, and care about the world.

"when it was the Vietcong that tortured prisoners and not the C.I.A.?" Not according to the anti war protesters. "when it was the K.G.B. that spied on it's people and not the our own government?" Ask Abby Hoffman, Dr King. Malcolm X, or any other leaders of the counter culture movement about that.

I remember when racial and sexual discrimination were still legal.
I remember when all the news that came from Viet Nam was screened and censored before it hit the television.
I can remember McCarthyism and the Red Scare
I can remember week after week people calling out foul about injustices in the world.
I can remember them looking at the U.S. for weapons to use on other people.
I remember a lot of things. Hindsight is 20/20. So what?
I can also remember that elections are coming up and nobody has stepped up to show how brilliant they are.
Why is that?
Beat the drums all you want, but if you have nothing to say; you are only a percussion instrument and not a very loud one at that.

The good old days always seem better looking back because they were so long ago and now things seem worse. I think the idea just teaches us to appreciate the moments while you have them because you cant ever get that feeling back.
