16 weeks should be sufficient to determine the sex of your baby, assuming you have an experienced ultrasound technologist and a relatively good ultrasound machine. We perform many ultrasounds at 16 weeks, and can generally determine the gender accurately. Remember you are not necessarily looking for the actual genitalia, but the cartilage that is forming to create the genitalia, at least at this stage.

I'm 17 weeks along and had a level II ultrasound, and then an Amnio on Monday. The Tech and the Doctor (High Risk Obstetrics and Obstetrics ultrasound) both say it's a girl! Either way for me the Amnio will tell me soon enough, LOL. I was told it really depends on the tech doing the ultrasound, how accurate the results are, so don't be afraid to ask them how experienced they are. The Doctor I seen does 20 or more a day and 6 Amnio's a week, I'd say he knows what he's looking at. At least I’d hope so! LOL.....:)

I work @ a local clinic in OB/GYN. We normal do our growth & development ultrasound somewhere between 16-20 wks. We tell mothers that if they really want to find out about the sex, it is best to wait till closer to 19 wks. But not quite 20 because then you run into the chance of the room being limited. It also depends on the quality of equipment available in your facility. The new 3D Ultrasound machines have a better chance of being correct!! Well... good luck!

if they say they see something than it is probably there you can definately tell the sex at 4 months because i am 4 months as well and all the goodies were fully visual at 3 months along but doctors wait unti 18 to 22 weeks for ultrasound because they want to see development of internal organs and important stuff what your child is packing or not is just an extra gift from the ultrasound...congrats

They can be accurate this early in pregnancy. I had my son almost nine years ago, and I had only one ultrasound done at three and 1/2 months. She told me I was having a boy and I did. I would have another one also later on just to make sure. Good luck!!!!

the ideal time for determining the baby's sex by ultrasound would be between 6 - 7 months. earlier than this the external genitalia of the baby would have to be sufficiently developed to make a correct diagnosis. beyond this time the difficulty would lie on the baby's position (e.g. if the baby is in breech position or if the baby is lying down on its stomach, etc) and the increasingly diminishing space the baby can maneuver itself in within the uterine cavity in order to give us a good "view" of its genitals.

Well...20 weeks is the absolute best time to see the sex of the baby with ultrasound. 16...the accuracy isnt gonna be great. It is possible but I would wait til you were 20 weeks pregnant.

you can tell the sex of the baby at 20 weeks. which is 5 months. durring the 4 mo is when the sex organs are to small to be recognized. but at 5mo it is very easy to tell. they have never steered me wrong all 4 of my ultrasounds were right on the money.

Mine was right on, but they say it's only something like 70% accurate. But if they have a very clear shot then they are more like 90% right.

provide beginning - that's the in ordinary words one hundred% precise thanks to be sure. extra perfect to attend and be shocked than for the sonographer to wager at what she's seeing on the show and characteristic you prepared for a toddler of the alternative gender.
