Your machine has a virus:

Run Spybot
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

Run Housecall anti-virus
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Run AVG anti-virus
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

Stick to Firefox
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

You should be fine after that

Sounds like you got unwanted adware installed.
Go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
and download trial of adaware. give it a try.
It will remove much of unwanted programs off your computer.
Anti-virus aren't that good at this type of programs, but using it in conjunction with anti-adware program will work better.
Sometimes, even after your remove them, it will respawn.
In that case, you might want to get a help from experienced users who can track down the respawn process from running process and remove the root.

from your browser Tools/Internet Options menu... there is a box that tells it where to go on startup... like mine is set to Yahoo Advanced Search... but normally.. you can go to a webpage that you would like as your startup and just click on the "use current" button to set it... or .. another popular option is to use "Use Blank" because it does not have to go anywhere to start up.
