"Truth" is a highly subjective concept when it comes to religion, so what might be truth for you would be a lie for someone else. Hence, "ignoring truth" to some might mean sticking to the faith for others.
Environmental issues are different though since damage to the environment can be scientifically tracked and recorded. The debate comes when people choose to ignore certain bits of information for personal, political or other reasons.

Ouch. Well, I am science teacher specializing in environmental matters and I teach at a Catholic school. According to you, I would be the king, but I would disagree with your statement as a fallacy. It begs the question, what truth am I ignoring?

BIBLE THUMPERS hands down! environmentalists know the truth but pretend that ignorance is bliss... the bible thumpers, however, think they are always right and try to push their beliefs down your throat no matter WHAT kind of proof you can show them FROM THEIR OWN "good book" to support your beliefs... i think they fail to see the writing on the page, and they think i fail to see the light... hmmm... (shrugging my shoulders)
