Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, is the official Head of State of several countries, including The United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zeland. She serves in many ceremonial and diplomatic roles as well.

One of Her Majesty's most important roles is to select a Governor General on the advice of the Prime Minister or Head of Government of the nations of which she serves as the constitutional Head of State. The Governor General is then responsible for carrying out the role of Head of State for that nation, and commonly consults with the Queen.

The Governor General is generally the Commander and Chief of the Armed Forces of their nation. The Governor General also grants royal approval to the laws passed by the Parliament or national legislature.

For an example of a Governor General, try visiting the Governor General of Canada's website at the address below.

Well I don't think any of the royal family do much of anything politically! They used to back centuries ago but now with the Parliament and prime minister they have all the political power! She's just there to be queen and act as a figure head! she has no real power or influence to speak of!!!!!!

She does jack all for Australia. I can't believe when a referendum was held a few years ago the public voted to keep her. Shame Australia. It's been 200 years, aren't we old enough to fend for ourselves now?
