Your computer should have come with a reinstallation disk. If it did not, you can request one from Dell. Also, I would recommend using a boot disk from some trustworthy antivirus software, such as Norton 2004. That might find and quarantine the virus. A system recovery by itself may not rid your system of the infection.

If you DO use the "system restore" utility on Windows, you won't need the recovery disks from Dell. It won't wipe out your operating system. But it really wouldn't hurt to have them just in case.

You don't need a cd to do a system recovery. Click Start/Help&Support and go to "undo changes to your computer with System Restore".When the window opens pick "restore my computer to an earlier time". You will see a choice of dates (highlighted) to pick from and what happened at that moment. If the restore does not work out you can return to the present and try another date. Good luck.

There isn't a simple answer to that... that I know of anyway. You can buy the cd's from dell. There may be other options also. What OS are you running... 98 XP? And is it infected with adware or a virus? Believe it or not there is a difference:) Rather than list all the possiblilities, you can email me or im me if you want... linetap@yahoo.com

Go to start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system restore and follow the prompts from there.
Might add it is wise to remove the virus first as restoring and recovering will not gurnatee that you have rid your system of those nasty virus but may cause more damage to recover it before trying to remove it.
