Sulfur odor is a problem with some wells. There are treatment systems and filters available. Take a 1 qt. sample to your county health department for analysis and follow their recommendations.

DAVE IS HALF RIGHT. THE FIRST HALF. THE REST OF THE PEOPLE INCORRECT. YOU DO HAVE SULFER IN YOUR WELL CONTACT A WELL DRILLER TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM THEY HAVE CURES FOR SULFER IT IS MOSTLY HEAVY CLORINATION. THERE IS NO FILTRATION SYSTEM THAT I HAVE FOUND TO REMOVE SULFER FROM THE WATER. THE BAD NEWS IS YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS DONE A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR.

You should get your water tested. If it is contaminated, probably by your sewer, you have big problems. The test results will tell you how to deal with it. We get ours tested through the county. Call your county courthouse and ask where to get the test.
Good luck and I really hope it's not your sewer. In the meantime don't drink the water and put bleach in your dishwashing water, and I wouldn't bathe in it either.

lmany times this smell is a by product of newer holding tanks with a rubber liner or bladder! replace with a plain metal tank and the smell will go away,, the water needs to breath and release gases and the bladders stop this action

it sounds like you have sulfur in you water.... most softeners don't treat smell... only the best will do this..... if this problem is new to you and you just had your water heater changed you can try to have the anode rod changed from a magnesium rod to an aluminum rod... this will usually solve your smell problem in a few days...... if it doesn't you can remove the anode rod altogether NOTE: THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY ON YOUR NEW WATER HEATER!!!!!!!!!
but the smell will decrease drastically
