From all the reports I have read so far (even though very few address soda directly,...lol), I have assesed that giving your hamster Soda will not make it explode literally, the massive amounts in sodium will however bloat the animal to fatal proportions, so soda although not a freakish exploding hamster compound, is still very dangerous for them indeed.

I don't know if you love Hamsters as much as me, I am a total hamster dork, I have one Hamster trained to play dead even,...lol Well actually he's kinda fat so he just lays there most of the time anyway (Doc says hims got a Thyroid problem,...awww). Just for friendly sakes here's the two best tips anyone ever gave me about Hamsters,... the one is just an FYI and the other is actually a really convienent little tip, hope ya appreciate it.

Do not use cedar or pine bedding and that alone cuts smells down but also those beddings are deadly if used on any animal. Using corn cob bedding is a great way to keep cages clean and smell-less.

Use old spagetti sauce jars, rince out well and give to your hamsters. They'll use them as a toilet. When they get dirty either clean out well or trash for a new one.

Hope that helps,...

I don't know, but now I'm somewhat compelled to give my hamster some Pepsi to see if anything happens... lol Anyways, I'd assume that your hamster wouldn't explode, but it's still probably not a very good idea to give your hamster pop.

No, but you can kill it with too much carbonation. They cannot burp so their stomach gets ripped apart from the pressure and they die. Imagine the worst stomach ache you ever had in your life and multiply it by a thousand times. Don't do this to your pet. If you are giving your pet soda, you are killing it, even if it doesn't die right away. So there's nothing to be proud of. If you like stomach aches that bad, drink some epicac syrup.

No, but it's stomach could rupture and it could bleed to death internally. Rodents cant fart or burp, so carbination can be deadly. A great treat you can give is cappiccino. Caffene fights cancer in rodents and chocolate is also good. Rodents just love coffee, or coffee ice cream. Frit juice is also ok. I give my rats treats in shot glasses :) they make wonderful rat cups. One of their favorite treats is left over chocolate shake with whipped cream, my roommate always gets them and never finishes. In regards to your last comment, sodium is not harmful! Hell, why would we give them salt licks if it was? Duh. Anyways, the lining of their stomach can tear if they injest enough carbination. Small amounts of soda will not be harmful, but if your little guy drinks a lot it can be deadly. I'm a bit of an expert on this, trust me.

Pepsi or Coke?

Possibly. Rodents cannot vomit or burp so if they drink enough it could be possible
